In a shocking development reported from Pune, a woman, who was allegedly driving without the driver’s license, mowed over a 19-year-old delivery boy. During investigation, it was revealed that she put her foot on clutch instead of the brake pedal.

The victim, identified as 19-year-old Ajay Dhokane, was rushed to a nearby hospital after the accident. However, he was declared dead. While the 40-year-old accused woman fled from the scene, she was later issued a notice to appear for investigation.

The accused woman, identified as Suchismita Bandyopadhyay, was driving an red Wagon R, when instead of hitting brakes, she put her foot on the clutch, and mowed over the victim Ajay who was on his motorcycle. The horrific accident occurred earlier on Thursday this week near the Hiranandani Foundation School.

The victim, was reportedly the only bread-winner for his family of four. He worked at a grocery shop and was out delivering groceries when he was run over. Protocol was followed, and the victim’s body was handed over to his family.

Meanwhile, after the CCTV footage showed the victim’s identity, the police sent her a notice to appear before seven days. The accused woman had reportedly come to drop her child at a private school.

The Facts of the Matter

For most regular drivers, the act of driving gets so mechanical, that slowly but surely their reflexes start taking over while driving. However, what happens when one single mistake of putting one’s foot on the wrong pedal in the car destroys the life of a bread-winner, and adversely affects the lives of his immediate family members.

Something similar happened recently in Thane, where a 46-year-old woman, identified as Suchismita Bandyopadhyay, mowed over a 19-year-old delivery boy. The startling information in the case hinges on the fact that she put her foot on the clutch instead of the brake.

Accused had Come to Drop her Child

The accident occurred earlier on Thursday this week when the accused woman had come to drop her child at the Hiranandani Foundation School. After the incident, the woman fled the scene of crime. The victim meanwhile was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

CCTV Sheds Light on Case

Soon, an investigation was initiated into the incident. During the CCTV footage analysis, more revelations were made. The footage showed that the accused woman was driving a Wagon R. While parking the car, she put her foot on the clutch instead of the brake. Meanwhile, the victim, who was on a two-wheeler behind, got hit by the car and suffered fatal injuries.

Victim Sole Bread-Earner of Family

The victim, identified as 19-year-old Ajay Dokhane, was a resident of Patlipada, Thane, and was the only bread-winner in his family of four. He used to work as a delivery agent for a grocery shop. As per a Free Press report, the Ajay’s father is an alcoholic, and he had to start earning because of the dire financial situation in his family.

A Hindustan Times report quoted senior police inspector R Babshetty saying, “As per procedure, after post-mortem, we handed over the boy’s body to his family and sent notice to the woman as per CRPC Section 41A to present before police within the next seven days. We are going as per rule as it’s a bailable offence. Further investigation is on.”

Accused Gets Bail for Self

Hours later, it was reported that the accused woman already visited the police station with her advocate and secured her bail before the arrest could be made. According to a Free Press report, the accused woman was driving the car without a valid driver’s license.
