An inspirational story of a Ranjith Ramachandran- from a night watchman to an IIM Assistant professor’, is inspiring thousands of people on the social media platform Facebook.
Ranjith Ramachandran a 28-year-old Man has fought for his dreams and became IIM Assistant professor at Ranchi campus, Jharkhand. His inspiring journey is remarkable for every youngster.
He shared his journey to IIM professor through Facebook in which he shared a picture of his own house with a post, “An IIM professor was born here”. He shared a picture of a shabby hut that was covered with a tarpaulin sheet to prevent rainwater leakage.
He said that “A lot of dreams have wilted before they could bloom in thousands of huts like mine. They should be replaced by stories of realising those dreams.”
Ranjith shared a story on 9th April 202, which later went viral and gained over 37000 likes. The Finance Minister of Kerala Mr. T M Thomas also congratulated him on Facebook, who goes by the “Ranjit R Panathor”.
The minister shared his post and wrote- “From the moment he felt he was defeated, he turned his life and achieved success and it’s an inspiration to everyone”.
Ranjith’s Journey as a Watchman
Ranjith Ramachandran was born in a poor family in Kasaragod district in Kerala. Ranjith’s father was a tailor and his mother was an MNREGA worker. He worked as a watchman at the BSNL telephone exchange office at Panathur in Kasaragod district, Kerala.
In his Bachelors, he pursued BA in Economics from St. Pius College and with that, starting working at the BSNL office. At that time, he was paid Rs. 3500 per month and after a struggle of five years, he received Rs. 8000 per month.
Ranjith said, “I studied during the day and worked at night as a Watchman at BSNL”.
After completing his bachelors, he pursued masters from the Central University of Kerala in Kasaragod. After that, he joined IIT-Madras to pursue PhD where he found it difficult to study and learn as he only speaks the Malayalam language.
He wrote in his Facebook post, ‘I was even afraid to speak. Before coming to Chennai, I was used to speaking only in Malayalam.’
After completing one year he decided to give up but his guide and mentor Dr Subhash Sasidharan, an associate professor in the department, encouraged and convinced him to continue and win.
He wrote, ‘I decided to fight and realize my dream’.
He completed his doctorate last year and before that he worked at Christ University in Bengaluru, as an Assistant Professor.
In 2020 October, he applied for the post of Assistant Professor at IIM Ranchi and got selected after some time.
During working as a professor at Christ University, he applied for a loan to build his house, before the loan got sanctioned, he got a recruitment letter from IIM Ranchi.
Ranjith in an interview said, “I never thought the post would go viral. I posted my life story, hoping that it would inspire few others. I want everyone to dream good and fight for their dreams. I want other people to get inspired from this and find success.”
Mr. Ranjith is an epitome of human spirit. He showed that with persistence, no goal is too difficult to achieve. From being a night watchman, Ranjith is now successfully placed in IIM Ranchi as an Assistant Professor.
