December 5th is observed as the International Volunteer Day. This day is celebrated to promote the culture of volunteering and motivate the government to endorse the efforts that the volunteers have put in to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
This day acts as an opportunity to spread awareness and gain an understanding of the contributions that the volunteers and the volunteer organizations have made. This day is also seen as a unique way to connect with volunteers and organisations and is a vital chance for volunteers and organisations to celebrate their efforts, share their values, and to promote their work among their communities, non-governmental organizations (NGO’s), United Nations agencies, government authorities, and the private sector.
As per certain sources, the theme for this year’s International Volunteer Day is to thank all the volunteers who have been helping and providing their services in this pandemic all across the globe by risking their lives just to help the community as a whole. This year another important issue that will be raised is the difficulties that all the volunteers and such organisations are facing during the covid-19 pandemic. The United Nations is putting a lot of hard work into reaching out to the entire world to spread the message of “Together we can through Volunteering.”
This year has brought us a lot of difficult circumstances, a lot of lives have changed, some for good, some lost a few close ones. But there is one thing that this time has thought well, is to have patience and do good to society. The most important lesson of all is to contribute your bit to the people, to the world because this is true, together we all can and we will sail through.
Team Shiksha thanks and acknowledges the efforts of all the volunteers who made our life easy during this pandemic and for always helping the society to grow. We wish them a long blessed life. We are grateful.
