Recently Alexa.com released a list of 500 of the most visited websites in the world. And the rankings are amazing. So, here is a list of top 12 members from the list.

11. Amazon.com, 

Amazon.com Inc. is an American multinational technology company which has its headquarters in Seattle, Washington, which mainly works in e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and the artificial intelligence industry. It is considered as one of the Big Four technology companies in the world along with Google, Apple, and Facebook. It is the world’s largest e-commerce marketplace & the biggest cloud computing platform provider in the world too.

10. Yahoo.com

Based in Sunnyvale, California, Yahoo is an American Web Service Provider company & website which was founded by Jerry Yang and David Filo in 1994. It is till date, one of the most pioneered internet players in the market since its inception. 

It provides internet-based services which includes a Web portal, search engine Yahoo! Search, Yahoo! Directory, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Groups, Yahoo! Answers, and other ancillary services like advertising, online mapping, video sharing, fantasy sports, and its social media website.

Wikipedia, also known as the saviour of the students, is an online multilingual, free-content encyclopedia. The website is run by the Wikimedia Foundation and based on a model of openly editable content. 

The website provides information on almost anything and any word that you wish to learn about and in every single aspect. Every article or page on Wikipedia provides links which are designed to guide the user to related pages where they can get additional information.

The content on the website is written collaboratively by largely anonymous volunteers without any pay. Anyone can write and modify the content on Wikipedia, except in some limited cases. In some cases alterations are restricted to prevent disruption or vandalism.

Founded by the Chinese e-commerce giant, Alibaba Group in the year 2003, Taobao is a Chinese online shopping website based in Hangzhou. It is the world’s biggest e-commerce website. The website facilitates consumer-to-consumer (C2C) retail trade. It provides a platform for small businesses and individual entrepreneurs to open online stores to cater the consumers need in major Chinese-speaking regions including mainland China, Taiwan, Hongkong & Macau.

7. Sohu.com

Sohu is a Chinese Internet company based in Haidian District of Beijing. Sohu and it’s subsidiary ventures offer advertising, search engine, online multiplayer gaming and other internet-based services to Chinese speaking population. In November 2005, Sohu was selected as the Official Internet Content Service Sponsor of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

It is the biggest social media platform in the world with more than 2 billion users and 1.3 billion active users around the world. Facebook Inc. is a social networking service company which has its headquarters in Menlo Park, California, USA which was founded by Mark Zuckerberg in 2006. Zuckerberg found the Facebook while he was at Harvard College & he and his fellow students cum roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes decided to develop an internet based platform for students to interact. It ranks amongst the Big Four technology companies along with Amazon, Apple, and Google.

Tencent QQ or QQ.com is an instant messaging software service and web portal developed by the Chinese tech giant Tencent. Tencent is known around the world for developing mobile gaming software like pubg & Call of Duty. Tencent QQ offers internet-based services including online social games, music, shopping, microblogging, movies, and group and voice chat software and much more. 

In April 2014, over 200 million active simultaneous online users were recorded on the website which increased to 899 million active QQ accounts on June 2016.

Tmall is a wholly Chinese-language website operated in China by the famous Alibaba Group. It is a business-to-consumer (B2C) online retail, spun off from Taobao. The platform lets local Chinese and international businesses & traders to sell branded goods to consumers in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. It mainly aims at providing a premium shopping experience for increasingly sophisticated Chinese consumers.

The website has over 500 million active users at all times, making it the world’s second-biggest e-commerce website, first happened in February 2018. As per a report by iResearch, it is the largest online brand & retail platforms in China in 2013.

3. Baidu

As per the latest Alexa ranking, Baidu is the 2nd largest search engine in the world. It is run by Baidu Inc. . Baidu Inc. is a Chinese multinational technology company. The main focus of the company is on providing Internet-related services and products as well as artificial intelligence (AI). The company is based in Haidian District, Beijing and is one of the largest AI and internet companies, not only in China but in the world.

The biggest online video-sharing website in the world, based in San Bruno, California, USA. The service was created by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim in February 2005 after they got bored with their jobs as PayPal. The service was bought by Google in November 2006 for US$1.65 billion and it currently operates as one of Google’s subsidiaries
