Background

For thrill seekers, getting stuck during avalanche events is nothing short of a nightmare. A human body is typically thrice the density of the avalanche debris, and thus, has the potential of sinking in it with a blink of an eye.

Lucky survivors who have walked with a few injuries after an avalanche have all agreed unanimously that once the debris of avalanche settles over the body, it settles more like concrete or cement.

What makes avalanches so dangerous is its unpredictable nature. Once an avalanche event begins, the snow debris can reach a speed of 80 mph within just 5 seconds. If a person becomes the victim of an avalanche, their survival rate is merely 34% if they are found after 19-35 minutes of incident.
