In West Bengal, a newly joined Bharatiya Janata Party worker and his 85-year-old mother were attacked at their residence in West Bengal. The victim lives in North Dum Dum and has accused the Trinamool Congress party of carrying out the attack.  However, according to the India Today report, TMC has denied such allegations.

On Saturday (February 27), BJP worker Gopal Majumdar was attacked at his residence by unknown miscreants in Ward 7 of North Dum Dum area.  Reportedly, the attackers broke the door of Gopal’s house and beat him with the butt of the gun. His 85-year-old mother was also allegedly beaten.

His mother was left with wounds on her face. She said, “They hit me on my head and neck and punched me, they hit me on my face too. I’m scared. They asked me not to tell anyone about it. My whole body is in pain.”

BJP workers in neighboring areas reached Gopal’s house and an FIR was lodged.

In light of this incident, BJP has claimed that many party workers in the area have been attacked and beaten in the past.

However, TMC has denied all the allegations. Nirmal Ghosh, Bengal TMC MLA from Panihati assembly constituency, said the incident was a domestic affair among family members and had nothing to do with TMC.

The local TMC leader said,

This allegation is completely untrue and baseless. Such incidents have not happened anywhere in North Dumdum. After the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Nirmal Kundu, the president of our 7th ward, was assassinated. BJP is trying to take over this ward by bringing in people from outside.”

We don’t know who all are the real culprits in this matter. But treating an old lady like this is such a heinous crime. Such people should be behind the bars with immediate effect. Nothing in the world can give anyone freedom like such to beat people around for fulfilling any kind of political agendas.
