Turkish Man Shot Dead By his Pet Dog After It Steps on Shotgun Trigger during Hunting Trip

A Turkish hunter became the hunted after his pet dog ended up stepping on the shotgun trigger and killing him. The incident was reported from Turkey’s Black Sea province of Samsun and occurred earlier last week. The deceased in the matter was identified as 32-year-old Ozgur Gevrekogulu. While the cops had initially taken Ozgur’s friend as a suspect in the investigation, he was later released pending an investigation.

An avid hunter and dog lover, Ozgur earlier last week was loading his hunting kit and equipment into the back of his truck. He was supposed to take a trip to the Kizlan Plateau for some hunting and unwinding. While he was preparing his truck, his dog jumped in the boot of the vehicle, and stepped on the trigger of a loaded shotgun with the safety turned off.

The pet dog’s feet touched the sensitive trigger of the shotgun, firing a bullet at 32-year-old Ozgur, who suffered a fatal wound. Before the paramedics could arrive and help him, Ozgur bled to his death. His body was later taken to the Alacam State Hospital in Samsun.

As per the Turkish media, Ozgur had become a father just two weeks ago. His social media was filled with hounds and dead birds.

A hunter being hunted in a bizarre twist-of-fate, it is often looked as an ironic justice by the universe. In one such incident. A 32-year-old man from Turkey lost his life before a hunting trip after his pet dog stepped on a loaded shotgun.

The incident occurred earlier on Sunday last week and occurred at Black Sea province of Samsun. The deceased in the matter was identified as Ozgur Gevrekogulu.

Man was Preparing for Hunting Trip

According to Turkish media, Ozgur had been loading his truck with hunting equipment and tools before a hunting trip to the Kizlan Plateau. When Ozgur was preparing for his journey, his pet dog jumped into the boot of the vehicle, and ended up stepping on a loaded shotgun.

Dog Steps on Trigger, Bullet Fired from Shotgun

One must know that shotgun triggers are extremely sensitive, and gun-owners are asked to keep the safety lock on to avoid random mishaps. When Ozgur’s pet dog jumped in the boot and its feet mistakenly touched the trigger, the gun fired a bullet straight into the 32-year-old hunter.

Before the paramedics could arrive, Ozgur bled to his death. As per Turkish media, Ozgur had become a father as early as two weeks ago. His body was later taken to the Alacam State Hospital in Samsun for postmortem.

Ozgur had been an avid hunter and a dog over, and was known for owning hounds. His social media is filled with his pictures with hounds and dead birds. It should be noted that it is not clear whether any of the hounds on his social media were responsible for the unfortunate incident.
