Unable to accept death of the person who fed it, a langur was caught on video trying to wake the feeder during the funeral. The heartbreaking video of the incident reported from Sri Lanka has since been going viral on social media. Many netizens have shown solidarity to the mute animal who expressed sorrow and sadness in its own way.

The video of the incident was shared on microblogging platform Twitter by a user named Subodh Kumar. Sharing the video of langur trying to wake its feeder, Subodh wrote – “Gray Langur refuses to accept his feeder’s death, tries to wake him up. Srilanka – A heartbreaking video of a monkey attempting to wake a dead man has turned viral. 56 year old Peethambaram Rajan, a resident of Batticoloa died on 17th October after feeling unwell.”

The video of the incident shows the langur sitting beside the body of its feeder Peethambaran. Still unbeknownst to the fact that the man who fed him has already died, the grey langur nudges the body in a desperate bid to somehow wake him up. The heartbreaking video of the incident shows the langur trying to pull up the man with its hands.

Meanwhile, bystanders gather around the body and look at the monkey’s actions with shock and disbelief.

The Facts of the Matter

The internet has no dearth of videos of animals expressing empathy, love, affection and grief in their own way. Some would even go as far as saying that animals are more honest in expressing their true selves without any agenda.

In one such incident, a langur was caught on camera trying to wake its dead feeder up during his funeral. The incident has been reported from Sri Lanka. The heartbreaking video of the langur unable to accept its feeder’s death, and trying to wake the feeder up has since been making rounds of social media.

What Does the Video Show?

In the video, a grey langur can be seen sitting near the body of its feeder Peethambaran. Peethambaran used to feed langur when he was alive. The monkey tries to nudge the corpse of Peethambaran, in a desperate hope that he would indeed wake up. The video takes another heartbreaking turn as the monkey appears to be confused while touching its feeder’s face and trying to somehow wake him up by pulling him up.

Pitambaram Fed the Langur Every Day

According to reports, 56-year-old Pitambaram Rajan from Sri lanka’s Batticaloa recently died after a hard-fought battle with illness. As per locals who were present at the man’s funeral, Pitambaram used to feed the one particular langur who showed up at his funeral. Locals said that as Pitambaram fed the langur every day, the two had developed a strong bond.

Locals who witnessed the entire ordeal claimed that the langur showed up during Pitambaram’s funeral and did not budge even for a second away from its feeder’s corpse. The monkey was trying to check whether its feeder was alive or not.
