Tragedy Strikes Building Site as Deadly Collapse Occurs
In a devastating incident, at least six workers lost their lives and one remains missing after an under-construction house collapsed here on Wednesday. The fatal accident took place near Lovedale in Tamil Nadu’s picturesque hill station of Ooty.
Details of the Deadly Incident
According to local authorities, the multi-story building was still in the construction phase when a portion of the structure gave way in the early hours of the morning. The collapsing debris buried several laborers who were working on the site.
Rescue Operations Underway
Ooty police and emergency crews rushed to the scene and launched frantic rescue efforts to locate and extract trapped victims. Two severely injured workers were immediately transported to Ooty Government Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Identities of Deceased Workers Emerge
As recovery operations continue, the local administration has released the names of the six deceased workers:
- Sakila (30)
- Sangeeta (35)
- Bhagya (36)
- Uma (35)
- Muthulakshmi (36)
- Radha (38)
Hospital authorities have confirmed the fatalities. However, the reasons behind the structural failure are still under investigation.
