In a harrowing incident coming from India’s crime capital Uttar Pradesh, a 13-year-old rape survivor’s father was killed mysteriously “in an accident” after he was hit by a truck in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The incident happened just two days after a 13-year-old was gang-raped by three persons. On Wednesday morning, a truck hit the 13-year-old survivor’s father when he left the hospital, where the medical tests of her daughter were carried, to have tea.

Deepu Yadav and Saurabh Yadav are the two accused in the case. The father of the two accused men is a sub-inspector in Kannauj district, Uttar Pradesh. According to the family members of the rape-survivor, the Uttar Pradesh police helped the accused in the killing of the survivor’s father.

According to a quote given to NDTV, a family member said, “Police officials conspired with the accused, who is the son of a cop, to kill the girl’s father.” After the travesties of two traumatic incidents struck the family, they have blocked the Kanpur-Sagar highway in protest.

Meanwhile, Kanpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Preetivinder Singh issued a statement saying, “An FIR was registered against two people accused of raping the minor girl. The girl was taken to the hospital for a medical test. When her father was returning from the hospital, he was hit by a truck. Police officials took him to a hospital where he was declared dead. One of the accused of girl’s gang-rape has been arrested.”

As per the Press Trust of India, Superintendent of Police, Prajesh Srivastava said that on Tuesday, March 9, Deepu Yadav, Saurabh Yadav and their friend Golu Yadav were the three accused who were charged under a gang-rape case. The SP also added that Deepu and Saurabh are the sons of a police official.

On Monday when the 13-year-old had gone out to continue her daily chores, she was abducted by the 3 accused men, taken to an Unkown location and raped. One of the accused, Saurabh threatened the minor girl that if she spoke to anyone about the crime, dire consequences would follow. However, when the 13-year-old reached her home, she told her family about the incident. Later, the father of the girl lodged a complaint to the police.

After the death or alleged killing of the rape survivor’s father, the Uttar Pradesh Police tweeted to Kanpur Police and directed them to take swift actions.

The Kanpur Police reacted to the tweet and soon Kanpur District Magistrate; Dr Alok Tiwari sent a video message claiming a swift action would be taken against the culprit.

“The entire Uttar Pradesh administration is with the survivor and her family. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath has promised to pay a relief sum of Rs. 5 lakhs to the survivor and her family. Both incidents will be investigated thoroughly and swift justice would be given. We are considering taking action against the accused under the National Security Act.”

Uttar Pradesh is famous (or should we say, infamous) for bizarre, chilling and inhumane crimes, especially against women. Recently, Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras was again in the news. Early this March, a man accused of rape and out on bail killed the victim’s father. According to the Hathras Police, an argument transpired between the family of the rape-survivor and the accused. The angry voices soon turned into a brawl and the accused shot the survivor’s father and killed him on the spot.

In the same week, another strange incident broke from Uttar Pradesh when a school student took the violent action of shooting his teacher over a trivial issue of him being scolded for misbehaving. The accused student and his friends stopped the teacher’s bike and fired a bullet at him. The teacher fortunately survived and went to the police. Later, the Uttar Pradesh police charged the accused under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code.

As if taking names and doing crime is the favourite pastime for Uttar Pradesh citizens, another chilling news came in the same week. A father in a fit of rage ended up chopping off the head of his daughter when he caught her in a compromising position.
