In two horrific incidents under the UP crime umbrella, a woman killed her CRPF jawan husband for allegedly hiding his first marriage. Elsewhere in the state, a son strangled his mother to death and tried to kill father for not approving his relationship with another woman. While the first incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Basti area, the second incident took place in Baghpat. Uttar Pradesh reported as many as 6.08 lakh crimes in 2021.
In UP’s Basti area, a woman identified as Sunita murdered her husband Rakesh Saroj for allegedly hiding his first marriage. According to reports, Sunita met the deceased on Snapchat and promised to marry her.
The couple got engaged in December 2022, when she got to know about her engagement. Sunita attacked Rakesh with a sharp-edged weapon on his head and strangled him to death. Further, with the help of her father and another associate, she dumped the deceased’s body. Thanks to call records, the cops were able to zero-in on Sunita, and during interrogation, she confessed to killing her husband.
Meanwhile, in Baghpat, a man identified as Rajat Singh, strangled his mother with a belt and later tried to kill his father for not approving his relationship with a girl who he met in Delhi.
The Facts of the Matter
Thanks to a huge population and other complexities, Uttar Pradesh has been known to be a state that reports horrific crimes on a regular basis. The state recently reported two such incidents of horrific crimes, where accused took matters in their own hand and doled justice in a way they deemed appropriate.

Woman Kills CRPF Jawan Husband
In the first incident, a woman killed her CRPF jawan husband for hiding his first marriage. In a second one, a son strangled his mother to death for not approving his relationship with a woman he loved.
The matter came to the fore when the cops recovered a body in the thickets under the Kalwari police area in Sujawalpur village. The deceased victim was identified as Rakesh Saroj, a CRPF jawan who took retirement and started a travel business.

Deceased Lied About First Marriage
The deceased, who was already married, had a dispute with his wife due to which she took off and started staying in Kolkata with her family. Meanwhile, Rakesh met another woman on Snapchat and promised to marry her, without telling her that he was married. Rakesh also lied through his teeth, and said that he wanted to be single since he was posted in Kashmir.
In December 2022, the couple got engaged, and Sunita found out that he was already married. On January 9, she called Rakesh and asked for Rs 3 lakhs.
CRPF Jawan Meets Second Wife, She Kills Him
The CRPF jawan told her that the transaction was not happening due to a technical issue, and he would be able to give Rs 1 lakhs.
The couple decided to meet the next morning. As per the plan, he entered home and Sunita attacked her with a sharp object, and later strangled him to death. She then dumped Rakesh’s body with the help of her father and another associate.
Due to the call records, the police were able to nab Sunita, who confessed during sustained interrogation.

21-Year-Old Kills Mother Over Relationship Disapproval
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 21-year-old youth strangled his 48-year-old mother to death as she was not approving of his relationship with a girl. Rajat was preparing for competitive examinations in Delhi when he met the girl and started liking her.
The couple’s relationship did not get the approval of Rajat’s parents. Earlier on Thursday morning, Rajat had an argument with his mother over the same, and in a fit of rage, strangled her to death. Further, when his father heard the commotion, he rushed to the place and Rajat tried to strangle him as well.
