In a horrific crime reported from, UP, a drunk father killed his 9-year-old son for not being able to find his phone, and was subsequently arrested for the same. The incident was reported from Alawalpur Madaiya village in Mainpuri city, Uttar Pradesh. The accused reportedly strangled his 9-year-old son in an inebriated state. According to reports, the grandfather of the victim, and father of the accused.
Lakhan Singh, took to the police station to file a complaint against the accused Mukesh. Reportedly, Mukesh took the life of his young son in front of his 4-year-old daughter Palak earlier on Tuesday this week. An FIR against the accused was registered against multiple provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The Facts of the Matter
Alcohol and rage make for a nasty combination that not only puts the person who’s indulging in the habit at harm’s risk, but also puts those around the person at risk. Several altercations and arguments transpire in the guise of a drunken hazy state. While most of the times a person comes to their senses and doesn’t resort to violence, there are times when violence becomes an inevitable consequence. Recently, a 9-year-old son became the victim of his father’s drunken state, and the violence that transpired later.
The 9-year-old victim, identified as Mithun was strangled to death by his own father identified as Mukesh Batham after the latter was in an inebriated state. Reportedly, the incident occurred in the Alwalpur Mandaiya village in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh earlier this Tuesday. The drunk father committed the horrifying crime after his son couldn’t find his father’s phone.
Drunk Father Asks Son to Search Phone
According to a Times of India, it was the accused’s father, and victim’s grandfather Lakhan Singh who took to the police station to file a complaint against Mukesh. In his complaint, Lakhan Singh accused Mukesh of killing his son Mithun on Tuesday night. Lakhan Singh also alleged that the accused took the life of his son in the presence of his 4-year-old daughter Palak.
4-Year-Old Sister of Victim Cries, Grandfather of Victim Files Complaint
In his complaint, Lakhan Singh claimed that when Mukesh came home on Tuesday night in a drunken state, he forgot where he had kept his cell phone. In the enbriated state, he asked his son Mithun to look for the phone. However, when he failed to find it, Mukesh in a fit of rage strangled Mithun to death.
It was 4-year-old Palak who witnessed the whole ordeal and started crying. The sound of cries raised an alarm for the grandparents who rushed at the scene. They found the dead body of Mithun and also found that Mukesh had fled the scene.
Accused’s Wife Had Already Left Him Due to his Alcoholism
Reportedly, due to his alcoholism, Mukesh’s wife Vijay Kumari had left him 8 months ago and had started living in Punjab. Vijay Kumari was living in Punjab with the other four of their six kids. Meanwhile, 4-year-old Palak and the now deceased 9-year-old Mithun were living with his father and grandparents.
After the incident, SHO (Station House Officer), Dharmendra Kumar said that an FIR was filed against the accused under multiple sections of the IPC. This includes Section 304 Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
The accused was also arrested later and the body of the deceased was sent to the post mortem for further investigation.
UP Father Had Killed Son Over Milk in 2020
Earlier in April 2020, an Uttar Pradesh father had killed his son after the duo had a dispute over a glass of milk. The accused, 55-year-old Gurmukh Singh, shot his 16-year-old son Jaskaran to death over the quantity of the milk his son gave him. Reportedly, the father complained that his son had taken more milk and gave him lesser. The accused also shot himself dead immediately, but not before he also shot his brother Avtar Singh, who tried to intervene.
