In a freak accident reported from Uttar Pradesh, a passenger traveling in Neelanchal Express, died in the train, after iron rod pierced through his neck. In distressing visuals of the incident gone viral, a passenger can be seen sitting in a normal position with a long iron rod pierced through his neck. The incident took place sometime around 8.45 am in Prayagraj division of Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, the victim of the mishap, identified as Hrishikesh Dubey, was sitting by the window when a 5 foot long and 1.5 inches thick iron pierced through the window pane and tore through his neck, leading to a fatal injuries. The victim succumbed to his injuries and died on the spot.
An ANI report quoted the statement issued by the railways in the aftermath of the incident. “A pax, sitting on a corner seat, onboard Neelanchal Express(Delhi-Kanpur)died when an iron rod being used in a railway track work entered the train by damaging the window&pierced his neck. Train was stopped at Aligarh Jn & body handed over to GRP. Investigation underway,” the statement read.
The incident comes just days after another freak incident was reported from West Bengal where a man traveled 65 km with a trishul ‘trident’ pierced through his neck, to have it removed.

While accidents resulting in deaths are a dime in dozens, some of them are enough to send shiver down one’s spine due to their bizzarre and horrific nature. In one such incident reported from Uttar Pradesh, a passenger died after an iron rod pierced through his neck. The passenger was traveling in the Neelanchal Express.
How Iron Rod Pierced Through Victim’s Neck
The incident reportedly occured when the train was traveling from Delhi to Kanpur, and was between the Danwar and Somna in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Sometime around 8.45 am, an iron rod stuck on the general coach’s glass window, tore through it, and pierced through the passenger’s neck.

The victim in the incident was identified as Hrishikesh Dubey. Distressing pictures surfacing on social media shows the victim of the mishap sitting in an upright position, with a iron rod pierced through his neck.

According to reports, the said iron rod was 5 feet long and about 1.5 inches thick. After the man was struck with the iron rod, he immediately succumbed to his injuries and died on the spot.
Following the mishap, ANI quoted the railways issuing a statement which read – “A pax, sitting on a corner seat, onboard Neelanchal Express (Delhi-Kanpur)died when an iron rod being used in a railway track work entered the train by damaging the window & pierced his neck. Work Was Being Done on Tracks: Reports
As per a Zee News report, some work was underway on the railway tracks when the incident happened. So far, no such confirmation has been made by the Railways. Meanwhile, the body of the victim was handed to the GRP, and an investigation in the matter is reportedly on.
WB Man Gets Trident Pierced Through Neck
The incident comes days after a similar incident was reported from West Bengal where a man traveled 65 km to Kolkata after a 30 cm long trishul (trident) was pierced through his neck. In that incident, the man survived and after he underwent a successful surgery.
