In a fascinating news, a UP-based police dog ‘Johny’ recently solved a “blind murder mystery” in less than 48 hours, by tracing the accused who was 22 km away from the scene of crime. The incident came to the fore after the UP police lauded Johny, a German Shephard, on its social media. The case is that of Durvesh Kumar’s murder. The 15-year-old was murdered and his body was buried in a farm.

“Saluting Johny, our #K9 officer who played a ‘claw-some’ role in solving a blind murder mystery of a minor in Kasganj within 48 hours. Not only did the ace detective reach the killers but tracked a looted tractor parked 22 kms away,” UP police tweeted, sharing a video of Johnny surrounded by cops narrating Johnny’s successful efforts in closing the case.

A crucial part of UP’s dog squad, Johny uncovered what looked like a “blind murder mystery”. The German Shephard led the cops to the teen’s accused, and also helped in the recovery of the victim’s tractor, mobile and cash.

For the extraordinary feat, Johny’s squad team was rewarded with Rs 25,000 by the UP Superintendent of Police.

Johny’s incredible achievement comes days after Indian Army’s assault dog Zoom passed away earlier last week after being critically injured in an anti-terrorist operation.

The Facts of the Matter

Loyal, determined and fiercely courageous, canine units recruited in police forces of different states are trained to do various activities to aid cops in solving crimes and nabbing criminals. One such dog is ‘Johny’, a German Shephard working for the Uttar Pradesh police.

‘Johny’ Helps UP Police in Finding Accused of Murder

Recently, Johny was lauded by the UP police for solving the “blind murder mystery” of a 15-year-old boy who was murdered in Kasganj. Not only did Johny help the cops find the accused, he also helped them to recover the minor’s tractor, mobile and cash, which was stolen by the accused. Johny completed the remarkable operation in just 48 hours.

“Claw-some” Role – UP Police Lauds Johny

Taking to Twitter, the UP police posted a small video where Johny can be seen sitting with his handlers. A cop meanwhile narrates Johny’s successful operation.

How Johny Helped UP Police Solve Case

As per reports, 15-year-old Durgesh Singh had gone to nearby villages from Nurpur when he was robbed and murdered by a group of men.

The sniffer dog was taken to the victim’s body wherein he registered the smell of the rope tied around him. Based on the smell, Johny was able to lead the cops to the house of Akash Chauhan and Dhirendra, who are the accused in the matter.

Further, Johny also led the cops to the victim’s tractor which was looted from him by the accused. For the entirety of the investigation, the cops relied on Johny’s sense of smell and his proactive nature.

Johny’s Team Rewarded with Rs 25,000

For his fine achievement, the UP police honored Johny with a citation and gave a reward of Rs 25,000 to his squad team.

Johny’s incredibly feat comes days after ‘Zoom’, the Indian Army’s assault dog, was killed after taking two critical bullet wounds during an anti-terrorist operation in Srinagar.
