In a shocking and utterly despicable incident, two cop brothers, who were sworn to protect and serve the people, allegedly gang-raped a woman, and forced her to get an abortion twice. Further, the survivor has alleged that since she has reached out to the authorities, she has been receiving death threats, demanding her to withdraw the case. The case is one of many coming from the nation, where the protector became predator.
The victim, a 26-year-old woman, has accused a constable named Imran Mirza, posted in Pilibhit, and his elder brother Furqan, who is posted as a policeman in Shamli district, of repeatedly raping her and forcing her to undergo abortion twice.
The victim claimed that she had met Imran through Facebook in March of this year, and he had promised to marry her. However, alleged alleges that Imran raped her several times in different hotels, and even provided her with an accommodation in a rented flat in Shamli, where his brother Furqan also raped her.
In April 2023, a Chhattisgarh-based cop was alleged to have raped a woman on the pretext of marriage.
Similarly, in Earlier in December 2021, a Madurai-based cop was alleged to have raped a woman who was returning from movie. The accused also took the woman’s friend to a nearby ATM, and withdrew Rs 30,000 from the account.
The Facts of the Matter
In an incident that once again highlights the age-old adage of ‘power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely’, two cops allegedly gang-raped a 26-year-old woman. The incident, which comes from Uttar Pradesh, highlights the need of greater accountability and vigilance.
The accused officers, a constable named Imran Mirza and his elder brother Furqan, have been accused of repeatedly raping the victim and forcing her to undergo abortion twice.

Survivor and Accused Met on Facebook
According to reports, the victim, a 26-year-old woman, had met Imran Mirza through Facebook in March of this year. Imran had allegedly promised to marry her and subsequently raped her several times in different hotels.
He had also provided her with an accommodation in a rented flat in Shamli, where his brother Furqan also allegedly raped her. The victim claimed that she became pregnant twice and was forced to undergo abortions by Imran both times.
Victim Receives Death Threat
The victim had reportedly remained silent for two years but decided to take legal action against the accused after being subjected to such atrocities. However, the accused had allegedly threatened her with death and warned her to withdraw the case.
Giving details of the case, Superintendent of Police (SP) (Pilibhit) Atul Sharma, was quoted saying, “Preliminary probe revealed that the woman belongs to a different community. The key accused, Imran,
had taken a long leave and was expected to rejoin duty on May 3. Action will soon be taken in the matter.”

Chhattisgarh Cop Rapes Woman on Pretext of Marriage
In a similar incident reported recently, a cop was arrested for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage. The incident was reported from Chhattisgarh’s Durg, and the accused cop was arrested under multiple sections of the IPC.
Reportedly, the accused cop, posted at Amleshwar police station, met the survivor and maintained physical relationship with her. The accused managed to get into the relationship by promising to marry her. However, when the woman found out that he was already married, she filed a complaint regarding the matte.
