A woman in US, who was reportedly a fugitive and wanted by the police, was arrested after she applied for a security guard job at the sheriff’s office. It is often said that it is difficult to escape from the long arm of the law. But in this case, the law didn’t have to extend its long arm to catch the accused as she simply applied for a job with them. The incident is reported from New Jersey.
According to reports, 27-year-old Zyeama Y. Johnson was categorized a fugitive from the justice. She was sought by the law enforcement authorities in Monroe County, Pennsylvania for failing to appear in the court after being charged with fraud. She was also wanted for failure to appear in court on 10 additional bench warrants.
While one would assume that such a person would lay low and be miles away from cops till the heat dies down. But Johnson is clearly unlike most fugitives. Despite being wanted by the cops, she ended up applying for a job of security guard with the sherrif’s office.
After the cops ran a background check on her, they were startled to find out her history with the law. They called her on the pretext of job interview, and was then taken into custody.
The Facts of the Matter
For cops, finding a fugitive can often be challenging and a frustrating act. However, there are times when some fugitives make it a little easy for cops to bring them to justice. Case in point – 27-year-old Zyeama Y. Johnson, an alleged fugitive, who made it easy for cops to arrest her after she applied for a job with the sheriff’s office.

Not First Such Incident
It should be noted that Zyeama is not the first wanted person to make headlines for walking into an arrest like that.
Earlier this year, a 40-year-old fugitive was labelled “South Africa’s Dumbest Criminal” after he too applied for a job at the police station. The accused was wanted by the authorities for stealing hardware worth over Rs 1 lakhs in 2015. After laying low for around seven years, he met his destiny and got nabbed when he applied for a job with the police station.
