In a horrific incident reported from Uttar Pradesh, a class 12 student in Sitapur shot his principal thrice. The teacher was grievously hurt, and is currently undergoing treatment. The incident was reported from Jahagirabad in Sitapur. The victim in the incident was identified as 48-year-old Ram Singh Verma.
According to police involved in the investigation of the case, the horrific actions of the student was an aftermath of an issue transpired earlier on Friday. On Friday, the school principal scolded the accused for fighting with another student near the school gate.
This enraged the accused, who used a country-made pistol and shot the principal thrice. The accused student has been on the run since, and efforts are on to nab him, cops said.
The incident caught on CCTV shows the accused student giving the victim a chase with a gun in his hand. The already shot teacher can be seen trying to fight back as other onlookers also ambush the accused and snatch the weapon away from him. The altercation escalates as the student assaults the teacher with the pistol butt.
Another video making rounds of social media shows the teacher lying on a stretcher and people scrambling away so that the teacher could be taken inside the hospital.
The Facts of the Matter
According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), between 2016 to 2020 Uttar Pradesh reported 13 per lakh cases, followed by the country capital Delhi (9 cases), and Uttarakhand and Rajasthan each sharing 8 cases. Interestingly, the national average of such cases is 4.8, with Madhya Pradesh having the highest rate (14 cases for every 1 lakh people).
Recently, Uttar Pradesh, the most-populated state in the country reported another arms-related incident, where a class 12 student shot his school principal thrice.
The motive behind the horrific shooting emerges to be the fact that the school principal had scolded and slapped the accused student days before the incident.
The incident occurred in Sitapur’s Jahagirabad and was caught on CCTV.
What Does the Video Show?
In the video gone viral, a student can be seen running after the already hurt teacher. The student, who has a country-made weapon in his hand, is soon overpowered by onlookers who tried to take away his weapon. The victim teacher tries to fight back against the student. However, despite being ambushed by onlookers, the accused is able to assault the teacher with the pistol butt.
Another video related to the incident shows the school principal lying on a stretcher with people scrambling away and around him so that he could be rushed to the hospital.

School Principal Lucky, Accused Absconding
According to Sadarpur Station House Officer Pradeep Singh, on the day of the incident, the student saw his principal entering the classroom and opened fire at him. The principal tried to escape, and the accused gave him a chase.
The victim suffered one bullet wound in the stomach and was rushed to the local community health centre, from where he was referred to the KGMU Trauma Center, Lucknow. The doctors revealed that the principal was lucky that the bullet did not damage any of his vital organs.
Meanwhile, the accused student has since been on the run, and efforts are on to trace and nab him.
