In the Uttar Pradesh Budget 2021-22, the UP government has put aside a provision of Rs. 101 crore for the under-construction airport in Ayodhya. The airport will be named after Lord Rama and will be called the Maryada Purushottam Sriram Airport. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath told the reporters that cities like Aligarh, Meerut and Moradabad will be linked through air-service soon. 

After the announcement, the Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad took to Twitter and tweeted in Hindi saying the Uttar Pradesh government in its budget has allocated Rs. 101 crore for the construction of Maryada Purushottam Sriram Airport.  

Moreover, the Yogi-led Uttar Pradesh government will be developing its Jewar Airpot as Asia’s biggest airport. For this, the state government in the budget announcement proposed to put aside Rs. 2,000 crore for the Jewar Airport. The state government also increased the number of runways of the Jewar Airport from two to six.  

Other Highlights of the Uttar Pradesh Budget 2021-22

The Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented the first-ever paperless budget in the state assembly on Monday. The budget for 2021-22 is worth Rs. 5,50,270.28 crore with new schemes of Rs. 27,598 crore.   

Uttar Pradesh Future City 

The UP government’s Ayodhya development plan will see the construction and establishment of a “model future city” which will be laid over 1,200-acre land. As per the bid document by the government, the future city will be based on the Vedic city planning principles.  

Farmers’ Welfare 

The government in the budget also announced Rs. 600 crore allocated for a new farmers’ accident welfare scheme. Additionally, Rs. 400 crore has been put aside which will be used to provide crop loans to farmers. For the 2021-22 budget, the UP government also proposed allocating Rs, 3,100 crores for farmers’ pensions and has earmarked 15,000 solar pumps.  

Women and girl child empowerment 

The Yogi government has set aside Rs. 1,200 crore which will be used to distribute tablets to girl students. Additionally, Rs. 100 crore has been allocated to ensure nutrition to girls with Rs. 32 crore set aside t set up Mahila Shakti Kendras. The government has also made a provision of Rs. 20 crore under its new Abhyuday scheme which will give free coaching to students for competitive exams.  

Ayodhya gets the biggest chunk in the Uttar Pradesh budget 

Yogi Adityanath government has put a sum of Rs. 140 crore for the all-around development of Ayodhya city to make the city a “world-class tourist attraction”. Rs. 300 crores is being put aside for the proposed Ram Mandir reconstruction and Rs. 100 crore has been allocated for tourism In Ayodhya.  

For the Kanpur Metro Rail Project, a provision amounting to Rs. 597 crore is put aside for the financial year 2021-22. The overall approved cost of the project is Rs. 11,076 crores.  

In the state-budget announcement, other crucial wellfares also saw money put aside for it. This includes Rs, 10,029 crores being put aside for housing, Rs. 2,200 crore for the Amrit Yojna, Rs. 2,000 crore for the Uttar Pradesh Smart City project, Rs. 1,000 crore for the Mukhya Mantri Samagra Samada Vikas Yojna, Rs. 7,000 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojna and Rs. 5,000 for the Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojna. 

Finally, the Yogi-led government has increased the budget to boost the speed of the work of the state’s under construction expressways. Rs. 1,107 crore is proposed for the Purvanchal Expressway. Similarly, Rs. 1,1492 crore for the Bundelkhand Expressway and Rs. 860 crore has been put aside for the Gorakhpur Link Expressway project.
