Uttar Pradesh: Husband Stabs Wife Repeatedly as She Prepares Karwa Chauth Thali, Condition Critical

In a horrific incident reported from Uttar Pradesh, a husband reportedly stabbed his wife repeatedly as she prepared for the Karwa Chauth thali for the rituals. The victim’s condition remains critical and an investigation has been launched in the matter. The incident was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi district in Azad Nagar’s Kotwali area.

According to reports, the accused in the matter has been identified as Manoj and the victim has been identified as Moni. Manoj and Moni had been married for twenty-two years and earlier on Thursday, Moni had kept the Karwa Chauth fast for her husband for his long life.

Manoj and Moni’s children had gone to coaching centre when Manoj came home and stabbed Moni repeatedly with knife. Several reports have stated that Manoj stabbed his wife over a dozen times and fled away, leaving her severely injured.

Meanwhile, hearing the cries of Moni, the neighbours rushed to the scene and found her lying in the pool of her own blood. Police was immediately alerted and a team of cops reached the spot and had Moni rushed to a nearby medical college.

A case was registered against Manoj. While the exact motive behind the accused man’s actions remains unclear, it is being alleged that the couple had been fighting a few days ago.

Karwa Chauth is celebrated with gusto and reverence across the nation, especially in Northern India. On Karwa Chauth, women fast for the whole day, without taking as much as a sip of water, for the long life of their husbands. In a tragic incident, a woman was rendered critically injured after her husband stabbed her at least a dozen times on the occasion of Karwa Chauth.

The incident occurred in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh in Azad Nagar’s Kotwali area. What makes the incident baffling and hair-raising, is the fact that the couple had been married for as many as twenty-two years. The incident once again sheds light on the poor state of safety of women across the nation – single, or married.

Children were At Coaching

As per reports, Manoj and Moni had been married for twenty-two years and are parents of children who had gone to coaching class earlier on Thursday, October 13. While Moni was preparing the thali for the Karwa Chauth rituals, her husband came home and stabbed her repeatedly.

Accused Flees

The accused man fled the scene after stabbing his wife at least a dozen times on Karwa Chauth. Meanwhile, hearing the woman’s cries of pain and agony, the neighbours rushed to the spot, and found her lying in the pool of her own blood.

Cops Rush to Scene

Cops were immediately alerted and a team rushed to the spot. Moni was rushed to a nearby medical college for treatment, where her condition remains critical. The husband has since been on the run and a case has been filed against him.

Family Claims Police Inaction

In its statement, the victim’s family alleged that although the couple had been married for twenty-two years, Manoj had been harassing Moni in the recent past. As per the family, Manoj brutally thrashed Moni three days back, after which she took to the police station to file a complaint, but the matter was not taken up by the cops.
