Outspoken Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut recently indicated her interest in foraying into politics from Himachal Pradesh, and claimed that she is “very much open” to the idea, if the government desires as much. The ‘Manikarnika’ actor’s recent statement came during a session held by popular news media platform Aaj Tak.
“Jis tarah ke haalat honge, government chahegi mera participation ho, I will be very much open to all kinds of participation. As I said, it would be great if people in Himachal Pradesh would give me a chance to serve. So, definitely, it will be sobhagya ki baat”, the actor was quoted saying in an Indian Express report.
The indication is a direct contradiction to Kangana’s earlier stance on joining politics, where a few weeks ago she told media that she has no intentions of entering politics. “I have no intentions of entering politics and fighting elections right now. As an artist, I am interested in Indian politics. I will continue to make movies about politics in future,” Kangana was quoted in an ANI report earlier this month.
In her session with Aaj Tak, the actor also mentioned that it is “sad” how PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi are considered competitors, and added how the current BJP leader and nation’s Prime Minister has “no opponent”.
Himachal Pradesh, where Kangana hails from, will see Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
The Facts of the Matter

“PM Modi has no opponent”
The actor’s statements come just two years ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Ranaut for the unversed, belongs from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. In her session with Aaj Tak, the actor also mentioned how it is “sad” that PM Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi are competitors, and added that PM Modi has no opponent.
“It is sad that both PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi are competitors. But, Modiji knows he has no opponent.” Ranaut said, as quoted by Indian Express.
Recent Statement Contradicts Kangana’s Earlier Stance
It should be noted that Kangana’s recent statements are in direct contradiction to her earlier stance regarding joining politics, where the actor mentioned that she has no intentions of joining politics. Earlier this month, Kangana clarified that she is busy on the professional front, and has taken an interest in politics as an artist.
“I don’t have any plans to enter politics. I am busy with the shooting of my upcoming films. I do have an interest in politics but as an artist only. Now, I don’t have the capacity to start over a new career. I will always make good films keeping in mind my interest in politics,” Kangana had earlier said, as quoted by ANI.
