Veteran Indian film and television actor Yusuf Hussain passed away due to COVID-19 at an age of 73. On his passing, Hansal Mehta said “am truly orphaned” as part of his heartfelt message. Scam 1992 and Aligarh creator Hansal Mehta is the son-in-law of the late actor. In his message on Twitter, Mehta said that Hussain was more than a father-in-law for him and was more of a father for him. According to reports, due to COVID-19 complications, Mr. Hussain was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai. On his demise, several prominent celebrities from the industry took to Twitter and shared a condolence message.
Yusuf Hussain’s death comes just a day after Kannada film superstar Puneeth Rajkumar passed away at 46 due to cardiac arrest. Puneeth Rajkumar aka ‘appu’s’ death was widely condoled by Indian political leaders, actors and influencers.

On October 30, popular actor Yusuf Hussain passed away. His passing came amid COVID-19 complications he was suffering for. He was also admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital for treatment. While the actor did not play the lead in many movies, he played pivotal supporting roles in films such as Vivaah, Khoya Khoya Chand, Dil Chahta Hai and more.

“We Were Stuck. I Was Troubled”: Hansal Mehta’s Heartfelt Anecdote
On his passing, filmmaker Hansal Mehta shared an anecdote involving Mr. Hussain. For the uninitiated, Hansal Mehta is married to Mr. Hussain’s daughter Safeena. Taking to Twitter, Hansal wrote, “I had completed 2 schedules of Shahid. And we were stuck. I was troubled. A non-existent career as a filmmaker was almost finished completely.”
Not My Father-in-Law but Father
Mehta continued and wrote, “He just came up to me and said I have a fixed deposit and it is of no use to me if you are so troubled. He wrote a cheque. Shahid was completed. That was Yusuf Husain. Not my father-in-law but a father. He was life if life itself had to have a physical form.”
His heartfelt message further read, “Today he is gone. To remind all those women in heaven that they are ‘Duniya ki sabse khubsurat ladki’ and all the men that they are ‘Haseen naujwaan’. And then to end with a booming ‘love you love you love you’.”

“Yusuf Saab I owe this new life to you. I am truly orphaned today. Life will never be the same. I will miss you terribly. My Urdu will remain broken. And yes – love you love you love you!” Mehta concluded.
The well penned message received several compliments from netizens, including Hansal’s own peers. Actress Pooja Bhatt claimed that the message brought tears to her eyes.
