Veteran Bollywood music director Raam Laxman passed away due to a cardiac arrest. He was 78 years old. The composer, whose real name was Vijay Patil, passed away at his residence in Nagpur on Saturday.

He was best known for his work on Rajshri Productions’ blockbuster movies like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Hum Saath Saath Hain.

His son Amar informed about his sudden demise by saying-

“He had taken the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, Covishield, six days ago. There was no problem at that time… But when he came home he developed weakness. His parameters were dropping. Doctors were attending at home. He passed away at around 2 am on Saturday. He had a cardiac arrest.”

About the musical duo Raam Laxman

Raam Laxman was music duos that are known for giving super hit music for several Hindi films also composed music in several Marathi films of Dada Kondke. The Duo was made up of- Vijay Patil and Surendra (who was the Raam in the duo).

Vijay’s musical partner Surendra, had passed away in 1976 soon after they signed the film ‘Agent Vinod’. Vijay continued to use his partner’s name in his creations nevertheless to honour his memory as Raamlaxman.

Celebrities pay tribute to Raamlaxman

Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar, who has worked with the late music composer on various projects, was extremely sad at the sudden demise of music composer; she expressed her emotions in a Twitter post:

She wrote- “Mujhe abhi pata chala ki bahut guni aur lokpriya sangeetkar Ram Laxman ji, ka swargwas hua. Ye sunke mujhe bahut dukh hua.” This translates to that- “I just came to know that very talented and popular musician Ram Laxman ji (Vijay Patil) is no more. I am deeply saddened after hearing this.

Also megastar Salman Khan, who has worked with Raamlaxman from his blockbuster movies. He took twitter to express his feelings over his death. In his twitter post Salman Khan says that, “Ram Laxman, music director of my successful films like maine pyaar kiya, patthar ke phool, hum saath saath hain, hum apke hain kaun has sadly passed away. May his soul rest in peace. Condolences to the bereaved family.”

Mourning for the same even Madhuri Dixit Nene posted a heartfelt note on her Social Media by saying that- “My heartfelt condolences to the family of #RamLaxman ji Thank you for your timeless music including some of my most popular songs from Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. #RIP.”

He composed music for more than 75 films in Hindi, Marathi and Bhojpuri. He’ll always be remembered in our prayers and the music industry has indeed lost a gem.
