Victoria’s Secret, the retail giant which focuses on lingerie, has inducted Priyanka Chopra as part of its VS Collective. The brand is attempting to redefine itself after suffering from losses due to its dated advertising and promotion style.

A new era has ushered upon lingerie and apparel brand Victoria’s Secret. Gone are the scantily clad angels who spread their wings at the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. In their place, a slew of high-profile and influential women is brought in, known not for their physical attributes, but their achievements. The brand in its attempt to reinvent itself is calling these group of women of VS Collective.

1) Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Former Miss World winner, Priyanka has won 2 National Film Awards as an actress, is behind multiple music records in collaboration with icons like Pitbull, has penned a New York Times Best Seller, and recently ventured into the world of restaurant business.

After being inducted as one of the new faces behind Victoria’s Secret, Jonas was quoted saying-

“A new era always brings a sense of freedom, and the opportunity to play a part in shaping the evolution and future success of a heritage brand like Victoria’s Secret is so exciting to me.”

2) Megan Rapinoe

The VS Collective: A move too late?

The apparel giant’s reputation took massive hits in the wake of the #MeToo movement where women called the brand out for its misogynistic culture that focuses on impossible beauty standards and ageism. The things turned from bad to worse as the company’s CEO, Lex Wexner, was found guilty of having friendly relationships with alleged sex trafficker and Hollywood producer Jeffery Epstein.

The company’s new attempt at refocusing and reinventing comes after other competitive brands have over the course of past few years have inducted plus-sized models and diverse models into its roster of models.
