In a recently gone viral video, a tourist family in Goa was seen being attacked with knives and swords by the staff of a resort in Anjuna area. In the aftermath of the incident, 3 people were arrested, with CM Pramod Sawant condemning the incident. The horrific incident was brought forth in a series of tweets by In Goa 24×7.

“An Instagram user by name Jatin Sharma has shared a horrific video on his profile which shows a gang of people attacking him and his family members with swords and knives. According the family member, They checked into a resort in Anjuna and had a small altercation with the staff which they reported to the manager who fired the staff,” the Twitter handle reported, in a series of tweets.

“According to the social media post, the police arrest 4 of the accused but later released them. It also mentions that in the FIR a case of 324 IPC was registered instead of 307 IPC which is attempt to murder. The family has appealed over their social media account not to visit Goa,” the tweet further read.

Meanwhile, Dr Pramod Sawant took to Twitter and said, “Today’s violent incident in Anjuna is shocking and intolerable. I have directed the Police to take the harshest action against the perpetrators.”

The Facts of the Matter

Tourism is a major industry in many countries, and popular tourist destinations like Goa attract millions of visitors each year. However, it is not uncommon for tourists to experience harassment and violence in these areas.

In Goa, there have been reports of tourists being harassed and subjected to violence with incidents ranging from theft to sexual assault. Another such incident was reported from the Anjuna area of the beach town, where irked resort staff allegedly attacked a family with knives and swords.

Horrific Video Surfaces

Social media users were left outraged over a video showcasing a horrifying incident that will send shivers down your spine. In the footage, a group of miscreants can be seen mercilessly attacking the victim Jatin and his kin, while a helpless woman screams for help.

Victim Takes to Instagram

Taking to Instagram, one of Jatin’s family members revealed the ghastly details of the incident. It is said that the resort staff had an argument with the family, which eventually led to their expulsion from the premises. While Jatin and his loved ones were taking a dip in the pool, they noticed a crowd of 14-15 people lurking outside the resort.

Things took a turn for the worse, when the gang of thugs barged into the premises and unleashed a vicious attack on the family. The brutality of the assault was truly unnerving and left the victims traumatized.

What Triggered the Violence?

The incident took place earlier on March 5, at a resort in Anjuna where a local waiter engaged in a heated exchange of words with the tourists. The altercation escalated quickly, and Jatin, along with his family, were ambushed by a group of four-five men brandishing knives and swords.

Reports suggest that the attack took place shortly after the family had a minor disagreement with the resort staff.

Goa CM Condemns The Incident

In the immediate aftermath, Dr. Pramod Sawant, CM of Goa, took to Twitter, condemning the incident.
“Today’s violent incident in Anjuna is shocking and intolerable. I have directed the Police to take the harshest action against the perpetrators. Such anti-social elements are a threat to the peace and safety of the people in the State, and will be dealt with strictly,” his tweet read.

Victim Says Arrested Accused Were Later Released

The victim also took to Instagram, and sought justice for the horror he and his family was subjected to. “Attacked by local gundas, police lodged a case under Section 324 instead of 307. Police had arrested four attackers, but later released them. Case was 307 but registered under 324. FIR does not disclose the names of culprits. Do not visit to @spazioleisureresort Anjuna Goa.
