In a shocking incident, a giant swing at a fair in Mohali snapped at 80 ft height & crashed on the ground, injuring at least 10 people, including children. The video of the entire incident went viral on social media.
The incident was reported from a fair in Phase-8 of Punjab’s Mohali and occurred earlier on Sunday evening, at around 9 pm. Shockingly enough, there were no ambulances or medical staff on standby at the ground, which led to more chaos in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
The 30-second-video of the incident, which was shared earlier on Sunday evening, shows the giant spinning swing functioning as expected in the first few seconds. However, the swing snapped and descended at a rapid speed and then hit the ground with a heart stopping bang. Riders can be seen being pushed above with a sudden jerk due to the force and speed of the ride. Meanwhile, bystanders are seen running away from the swing.
Following the incident, the injured were rushed to the Phase 6 civil hospital. Meanwhile, five other injured were admitted to Phase-9 hospital.
Due to the ride malfunctioning and absence of ambulances or staff, onlookers sought explanation from the management and bouncers, who fled the scene.

A joyride in Mohali turned into a horror-ride after it malfunctioned and crashed down almost 80 feet from the ground. The giant spinning wheel swing was set up for the fair at the Dussehra Ground, Phase-8, Mohali. The incident occurred sometime around 9 pm and was caught on video, visuals of which are going viral.
What Does the Video Show?
The shocking video of the incident shows the ride taking as many as 50 people almost 80 ft in the air. Soon all hell breaks loose as the ride rapidly descends and crashes on the ground with a heart-stopping thud. The people on the ride can be seen getting tossed up due to the immense force and speed of the ride and only the safety belts are able to put them in place.

Injured Include Children
The injured people were rushed to the civil hospital and Fortis Hospital. The injured also includes 13-year-old Manya, 10-year-old Rajbir, and 12-year-old Bani, along with two other children. It should be noted that all the injured are reported to be out of danger and they have suffered injuries on their backs, necks and jaws.

Eyewitness Gives Account of Events
Following the incident, an eye-witness gave an account of the events. “Their private bouncers came nearly 20 minutes late. There was a lady who was their head. She said that nobody is dead. Who will take responsibility for the incident? How is this business running without the availability of any medical aid? The public is being stopped by the police,” the fair-goer claimed.
Organizer Claims of Cooperating with Police
It should be noted that the fair was originally scheduled to end on September 4. However, it is being reported that an extension was given to the administration to run the fair till September 11. The organizer meanwhile claimed that the incident was caused due to a technical issue. Organizer Sunny Singh also added that fair staff will cooperate with the police and the administration.
Meanwhile, Harsimran Singh Bal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, also mentioned that the police is investigating what caused the mishap and a case will be registered based on the investigation.
