In a surprising turn-of-events, Congress was once again put on defensive after BJP took a dig on the viral video of Rahul Gandhi partying in night club. According to reports, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was attending a friend’s wedding in Nepal and attended a party at a night club, triggering jabs by opposition and ruling party BJP.

BJP’s IT-dept in-charge Amit Malviya took to Twitter and took a thinly veiled shot at Rahul Gandhi by tweeting – “Rahul Gandhi was at a nightclub when Mumbai was under seize. He is at a nightclub at a time when his party is exploding. He is consistent. Interestingly, soon after the Congress refused to outsource their presidency, hit jobs have begun on their Prime Ministerial candidate.”

To this, Congress communication department head Randeep Surjewala counter attacked BJP and Prime Minister Modi and was quoted saying, “Rahul Gandhi has not gone as an uninvited guest like Prime Minister Modi went to Pakistan to celebrate birthday and cut cakes for the then Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif.”

He added that Rahul Gandhi was participating in a marriage function in Nepal when the video was taken.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi just can’t seem to catch a break. After years of trying to change his image of being a ‘pappu’ amongst the massess, Gandhi has now being targeted for allegedly attending a wedding. The video of Rahul Gandhi at a night club with an unidentified woman by his side was first shared by BJP IT Dept’s in-charge Amit Malviya who tweeted the video with a thinly veiled attack. “Rahul Gandhi was at a nightclub when Mumbai was under seize. Congress Goes on Defensive, Counter Attacks PM Modi

As always, Congress was put on defensive once again and had to go on a damage-control frenzy to control the narrative. Following the video being shared, Congress communication department head Randeep Surjewala tried to explaining Gandhi’s whereabouts. He further counter attacked Prime Minister Modi and called him an “uninvited guest”.

“Rahul Gandhi has not gone as an uninvited guest like Prime Minister Modi went to Pakistan to celebrate birthday and cut cakes for the then Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif. Rahul Gandhi has gone to a friendly country Nepal to participate in a private marriage function of a friend. By chance, the friend also happens to be a journalist. So I think they are also abusing your fraternity,” he was quoted saying.

It should be noted that Rahul Gandhi was in Nepal to attend CNN journalist Sumnima Udas.

“Not a crime to attend someone’s wedding”: Congress

Meanwhile, Congress leader Surjewala addressed a press conference where he said, “It has still not become a crime in this country to be married, to be friends with someone, or to attend their marriage celebration.”

“Maybe after today Prime Minister Modi and the BJP may decide that it is illegal to attend a marriage. They may say it is a crime to have friends or participate in family functions. But do let me know so that we all change our status, habits and civilizational practices of attending the marriage of friends as also family,” he was further quoted saying..
