President Droupadi Murmu took a historic sortie on the Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft at the Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam. In 2009, former President Pratibha Patil took a flight in a Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet from the Pune air force base, making her the first female head of state to do so. Subsequently, President Murmu became the second woman President to fly in a warplane.
