In a video gone viral, a Canadian news anchor swallowed fly during a live segment about the ongoing Pakistan floods and its aftermath. The reporter continued segment despite the unintended goof up. The video was shared by the reporter herself, which has since been viewed over 1.1 lakh times on Twitter and has garnered all kinds of reactions from netizens.

“Sharing because we all need a laugh these days.  Turns out it’s not just @fordnation, I swallowed a fly on air today”, reporter Farah Nasser tweeted, adding that it was “very much a first world problem”, given the story she was speaking about.

The news reporter was elaborating on the ongoing floods that has wreaked havoc on Pakistan as a fly flew directly into her mouth. Farah Nasser audibly chokes on the fly and swallows it in an instant. While most would have taken a moment or two to get in grips with the situation, Nasser gave a fine example of the age-old adage – the show must go on.

In an interview later, she gave Entertainment Tonight hosts through the incident as it happened. “I saw the fly flying around at the beginning of the news and…. And I was like not today, fly! Get away, not today. I’m like ‘I’m not gonna let you distract me’,” Nasser said.

The Facts of the Matter

Live television broadcasts are a hoot to watch. While most of such broadcasts start and end in an eventful manner, sometimes an unforeseen incident happens that takes everyone by shock. Recently, a Canadian news anchor found herself in middle of such a broadcast, when a fly got directly in her mouth.

She however continued the broadcast without batting an eye. The incident of the video has since been going viral on social media.

News Anchor Shares Video of Swallowing Fly

The video was shared by Canadian news anchor Farah Nasser. Making light of the matter, Naseer wrote a caption with the video which read – “Sharing because we all need a laugh these days.  Turns out it’s not just @fordnation, I swallowed a fly on air today. (Very much a first world problem given the story I’m introducing).”

Introducing Pak Flood Segment & the Oops Moment

In the video gone viral, Farah can be seen explaining about the ongoing aftermath of the devastating Pakistan floods. “Pakistan has never seen an unbroken cycle of monsoons quite like this. Eight weeks of non-stop torrential rain. A national emergency has been invok…,”Naseer said, and chokes for a second. “has been invoked by…the weather… the extreme weather is alarming…” she can be heard continuing after swallowing the fly on live broadcast.

Anchor Recalls the Incident at Interview

In a subsequent interview, she shared more about what was going on in her mind during the sudden turn-of-events that took her by surprise.

“I saw the fly flying around at the beginning of the news and…. And I was like not today, fly! Get away, not today. I’m like ‘I’m not gonna let you distract me’,” Nasser was quoted saying in a Times Now report.

She also mentioned that after the entire ordeal, she was able to toss the fly aside as she had the next paragraph to complete.

Earlier this year, another similar incident was reported from the broadcast of a reality show. 7-year-old daughter of a Spanish actress reportedly accelerated a live electric scooter during the live broadcast of a reality show. The girl almost crashed, and thankfully got rescued before she could be injured.
