In a incident caught on cam, a cop in Jabalpur thrashed an elderly man. According to reports, the cop in question was later suspended after the video of his actions went viral and received flak by netizens online.
The cop was identified as constable Anant Sharma. Initially, it was speculated that the accused in the matter was a RPF personnel. However, it was later revealed that the accused was actually a constable posted at the Lour police station in Rewa.
In the video gone viral, the police constable was seen thrashing the elderly man. The incident reportedly transpired at the number 4 & 5 of Jabalpur railway station.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, GRP, Jabalpur, came in defence of the constable and claimed that the elderly man was drunk and was passing lewd comments on a woman. The constable tried to stop him, and it was the elderly man who grabbed his collar.

Recently, a cop at a Jabalpur railway station was once again seen exhibiting what Kerala high court once labelled “khaki ego & arrogance”.
The cop in question thrashed an elderly man and was caught on video doing so. After the video of the incident went viral, the cop in question was suspended. The cop in question was identified as Anant Sharma and the victim was identified as Gopal Prasasd.

In Defence of Violent Constable
Vinayak Verma, SP Jabalpur Government Railway Police, came in defence of the abusive cop and was quoted in a TOI report saying, “’In our primary investigations it has surfaced that the elderly was drunk and he was passing comments on a woman, when the constable intervened and tried to stop him, the elderly caught him by collar, later the constable hit him.”

Victim’s Version of Incident
Meanwhile, the victim also issued a statement regarding the matter in which he claimed that some people were abusing him at the railway station. When he tried to complain about the same, it was the policeman who attacked him and hit him. He added that he doesn’t know constable Anant Sharma and has no clue why he would hit an elderly man like him.
