Virat Kohli has become Virat (Grand) by becoming the first celebrity in the country to have achieved the mark of more than 100 million followers on the social media platform Instagram. The 32-year-old Indian captain has surpassed Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra to accomplish the milestone.

Our beloved Indian actress PeeCee has over 60 million followers on Instagram.  Deepika has 53.3 million followers, Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has more than 51.2 million followers. 

Talking about Captain Kohli, he has also retained the top spot in India’s Most Valuable Celeb list according to the Celebrity Brand Valuation Study 2020 by Duff & Phelps.

Kohli is fourth on the list of players with the most followers on Instagram. The other three being Cristiano Ronaldo – the Portuguese footballer, then there is Lionel Messi – the Italy’s stalwart and captain to Barcelona, and the third is Neymar. Presently Kohli is busy winning the four-match Test series against England. For which we wish him a great win and lots of luck.

Virat has been praised by the National and International cricketers and cricket fraternity a lot.  He was praised by former Australia captain Steve Waugh, where Waugh called him ‘a modern-day hero’.

Waugh was seen saying in the documentary on Discovery+ :

“What they love about Kohli is that it’s like the new attitude of India, get stuck in, don’t be intimidated. Take everything on and anything is achievable and possible. But he’s like the modern-day hero,”

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is set to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), led by Kohli, has shared his excitement of playing under Kohli.

Kohli has not only a staggering following on Instagram, but also on micro-blogging social media platform Twitter. On Twitter, Kohli enjoys a following of 40.8 million fans across the world. The Indian captain has been consistently contributing to India with his bat in the past few years and has managed to put his team in the top 3 of all ICC Team rankings.  

The aggressive and outspoken Indian captain took over the mantle from former Indian Captain MS Dhoni in 2017. Under Kohli’s captaincy, team India scripted history by becoming the first Asian team to win a Test series in Down Under. He also managed to take his team to the Champions Trophy, 2017 final. In 2019, he was on the brink of creating history when he took team India to the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup.  

The 32-year-old man is known for his exceptional fielding skills, his adaptable cricketing style, and his demeanor on and off the field. Over the course of his cricket career so far, Kohli has made 7940, 12040, and 2928 runs in Test matches, ODIs, and T20s respectively. With 70 international centuries, he currently holds the record of having the most number of centuries by an active batsman. 

He is one of the only players in the world who has an average of over 50 runs across all cricket formats. The Delhi-based cricketer has an average of 52.75, 59.31, and 50.48 runs in Tests, ODIs and T20. Recently, Kohli was in the news for being the most successful Indian captain on Indian soil by having 35 wins under his belt in just 59 games.  

On the personal front, Virat Kohli is married to Indian actress Anushka Sharma. The couple was recently blessed with a baby girl. Baby girl’s mother Anuska took to Instagram with a picture wherein the happy couple posed with their daughter Vamika.  

Currently, Kohli is toiling hard under the Ahmedabad sun with his team for the final and fourth Test against the guests England which is scheduled to begin on March 4. Currently, India leads series 2-1. The final Test is an all-important game for Kohli’s men as if they win the game or are able to draw it, they will be in the ICC World Test Championship Final.
