Ace RCB batter and former Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli has reportedly been fined a measly 10% of his match fee by the BCCI in reference to the earlier RCB and CSK clash where Kohli was caught celebrating with vigour and fervour at the fall of a wicket.

While the BCCI has not gone into the exact details of why Kohli was fined, many news outlets have reported that Kohli’s celebration landed him in the soup.

The incident in question occurred when Mohammed Siraj took a crucial catch to dismiss Shivam Dube, who was dominating the RCB bowlers all over the park. Kohli, who was ecstatic at the critical wicket, celebrated exuberantly. It is believed that Kohli’s over-the-top celebration was the cause of his fine.

According to official IPL media advisories, Kohli admitted to a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which carries a fine. The Match Referee’s decision is final and binding in cases of Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct. Kohli’s actions that led to the violation were not made public.

Despite the controversy, the match was a thrilling encounter between two of the IPL’s top teams. Dube’s 52-run knock from just 27 balls and other CSK batters’ contributions helped the team reach a competitive total.
