The CISF recently apologized to Sudhaa Chandran for having her prosthetic limb removed at airport. “We are extremely sorry”, stated the CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) in the apology issued on Twitter. The security agency also claimed that it would sensitize its personnel so that Chandran or another passenger who has faced such issue in the past will not continue doing so.
The CISF’s apology came hours after television actress and classical dancer Sudhaa Chandran took to her Instagram to share her plight. Addressing PM Modi, Chandran said that she is hurt that she is asked to remove her prosthetic limb every time on an airport.
The power of social media has truly empowered citizens who were once voiceless, and hence, powerless. Now, any person with an account on social media platform and share a genuine issue they have faced to alarm others, and call for redressal. This has also led to private and government entities to have their own accounts on social media platforms, so that they can address the issue and provide a solution.
Recently, actress Sudhaa Chandran took to her social media platform and sought for the resolution of an ordeal she had been facing for years.
The Facts of the Matter
Television actress Sudhaa Chandran is known by several people to play characters of multiple ranges – from evil antagonist, to loving mother. However, many do not know that she has been a Bharatnatyam dancer all her life and has received accolades for the same. Moreover, lesser people know that she has achieved all her feats while having just one real limb and one prosthetic limb.
The classical dancer however has had stressful encounters at airport due to her prosthetic limb. At airports, the actress has been repeatedly asked to remove her prosthetic limb for security purposes. Recently, Chandran made an appeal to Prime Minister Modi and shed the light on the ordeal she has faced.
What Made Sudhaa Chandran Appeal to PM?
Taking to Instagram, Chandran said in a video message – “Good evening, this is a very personal note that I want to tell to our dear Shree Modi Ji. This is an appeal to the central government and the state government. I am Sudhaa Chandran, an actress and dancer by profession, who has danced with an artificial limb and created history and made my country feel very proud of me.”
She further added, “But every time that I go on my professional visits, each time, I am stopped at the airport and when I request them at the security, to the CISF officers that please do an ETD test for my artificial limb, they still want me to remove my artificial limb and show it to them.”
