In 2015, NRI tycoon B Ravi Pillai splurged upwards of Rs 55 crores on his daughter’s big fat Indian wedding. Not only was the wedding the talk of the town for the days to come, but it continues to fascinate and attract people who are curious about how the wealthiest of the wealthiest host a wedding to remember.

For the unversed, B Ravi Pillai, is an Indian-born, Dubai-based business magnate. Son to a humble farmer, Pillai is currently the head of the RP Group of Companies. With the assistance of a local partner, he transformed his small construction business into a whopping $7.8 billion construction company.

So, when it was the time for his daughter’s wedding, Pillai hosted a wedding with no expenses spared. If reports are to be believed, he spent Rs 55 crores for his daughter Dr Aarthi’s wedding to a Kochi-based doctor Adithya Vishnu. Reportedly, the wedding party saw as many as 30,000 attendees from across 40 countries, including high-profile celebrities’ other business tycoons.

As per a TOI report, the wedding venue spanned on a large eight acres land, and the venue saw a movie-like set which set Mr Pillai back over Rs 20 crores. The man behind the production design of the wedding confirmed that the wedding venue’s set was larger than that of Baahubali, S S Rajamouli’s Magnum Opus.

In 2015, his daughter Dr Aarthi Pillai tied the knot with Adithya Vishnu, a doctor by profession, in Kollam, Kerala. The wedding was nothing short of a fairy tale, with over 30,000 guests from 42 countries in attendance, including the royal families of Qatar. Talk about making an entrance!

It’s no surprise that behind every extravagant wedding is a charming father who wants nothing but the best for his beloved daughter’s big day. And Ravi Pillai is no exception, as he spared no expense, spending a whopping Rs. 55 crores on the celebrations.

Mohanlal, Mammootty Graces Wedding

The wedding was a star-studded affair, with renowned film stars like Mohanlal and Mammootty gracing the event. And if that wasn’t enough, even the bigwigs of Samsung and the Japan Gas Corporation marked their presence. Well, if you’re an influential business tycoon, you would have giants of every field wanting to grace your family events.

Wedding Set Larger than Bahubali Set

But what stole the show was the lotus-themed mandap, which was planned by the production designer, Sabu Cyril. This was no ordinary mandap, mind you; it was larger than the set of the film, Baahubali! And let’s not forget the huge floral elephant statues and floral chandeliers that adorned the pandal.

It took a team of 200 professionals almost 75 days to create the Rajasthani ambience in Kollam. Talk about going above and beyond!

Diamonds – The Bride’s Best Friend!

The bride, Dr Aarthi Pillai, looked breathtaking in a gorgeous silk saree designed by the ace designer, Manish Malhotra. She radiated the South Indian bridal glow in the traditional drape, but with a twist – she ditched the gold jewellery and opted for diamonds instead. After all, diamonds are a girl’s best friend, right?

It’s been eight years since the wedding, but people still talk about it with awe and wonder. And why wouldn’t they? With a wedding that extravagant, it’s bound to leave a lasting impression.
