Anahita Pandole, the doctor who was behind the wheel with late business tycoon Cyrus Mistry in the car, was booked by the police earlier on Saturday. Dr Anahita has been booked for causing death due to negligence, over speeding, and rash driving.

Dr Anahita Pandole has been booked by the Kasa Nagar police station under section 304 a (causing death by negligence), section 279 (rash driving), section 336 (endangering life or safety of others), along with other relevant sections of IPC and Motor Vehicle Act.

Dr Anahita was booked by the police after a statement from her husband Darius Pandole was given to the cops, as per Palghar Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil said. It should be noted that Dr Anahita is still in ICU of Sir HN Reliance Hospital. In the immediate aftermath of the shocking accident that killed Cyrus Mistry, Dr Anahita had sustained multiple fractures. She is currently on external life support systems.

The update comes two months after Cyrus Mistry was tragically killed in a road accident earlier on September 4. While she was driving the car, her husband Darius was in the front passenger seat. Mistry and his friend Jehangir were seated in the rear passenger seat. Both Mistry and Jehangir were killed in the accident.

The Facts of the Matter

The Kasa police in Maharashtra has booked Dr Anahita Pandole for rash driving and over speeding after the Mumbai-based doctor met with an accident which killed prominent industrialist Cyrus Mistry. The update comes after Darius Pandole, Dr Anahita’s husband, and the prime witness of the accident, gave a statement to the Mumbai police earlier on Tuesday this week.

What Are Charges Dr Anahita is Booked Under?

Dr Anahita has been booked under multiple sections of IPC including section 304 A (causing death by negligence), section 279 (rash driving) and section 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), along with sections of Motor Vehicles act.

For the unversed, prominent industrialist Cyrus Mistry was killed in a road accident earlier in November. Dr Anahita was driving the vehicle while her husband sat on the front passenger seat. Mistry along with his friend Jehangir was seated in the rear passenger seat. The accident killed both Mistry and Jehangir.

Dr Anahita’s Husband Gives Statement

As per a TOI report, Darius gave a statement to the police and claimed that his wife was on the third lane of the road, and she couldn’t merge into the two-lane. As per the same report, the car makers in its report also claimed that Anahita, the driver of the car, was also at fault due to her judgement error.

Dr Anahita had tried to overtake a vehicle ahead on the road. However, she realised that another vehicle was on the second lane. She swerved towards the bridge’s edge and crashed into the railing of bridge. Initially, a case of accidental death was registered in the matter.

Still On Life Support

A prominent figure in the field of gynecology in India, Dr Anahita is currently being treated at the Sir HN Reliance Hospital. She is currently in the ICU and has been put on external support. She sustained multiple fractures, and is likely to go through a hip replacement surgery. For now, the doctors are not gauging the recovery for the Mumbai-based doctor as she is still on life support.
