A woman from Belfast, Northern Ireland, named Anaya did not pay attention to her daughter’s advice; she ended up losing her eyesight. Tattoos are something which globally fascinates youngsters and adults, but what if it started coming with the cost of vision or even in some unfortunate cases, life.
What Happened with Anaya
Anaya Peterson, a 32-year-old- woman from Belfast, Northern Ireland who is a mother of 5 and a law student. She was excited to get herself tattooed like Australian model Amber Luke.
Amber Luke got her eyeballs inked with a vivid blue shade and went blind for three weeks. Lucky for Luke that she got her vision back but unfortunately, Anaya Peterson might lose her sight.
Anaya’s Tattoo Rollercoaster
Anaya’s tattoo obsession has been peacefully successful till the time she decided to get her eyeball inked. She says that her first eyeball tattooing went away very smoothly and was completed with minimum complications.
After tattooing her right-eye blue in July 2020, there was some dryness and she suffered headaches. She yet mustered up the courage to get her left eyeball inked purple in December of 2020.
Her 7-year-old daughter warned her and even went against the idea of Anaya getting her eyeball tattooed. Her daughter insisted that she should not get the tattoo done as it might affect her eyesight, and months after her daughter’s statement Anaya is now struggling for her sight.
Anaya’s Tattoo turned into a Nightmare
On one fine morning in August 2021, she woke up with incredibly swollen eyelids that looked like a boxer’s blackeye. At first she thought that it was a general infection or allergy but when things began worsening, she decided to check herself into the hospital. She was put on an intravenous drip medication for three days and the treating doctors biopsied her problematic eye.
After this tragic incident a disheartened Anaya stated that, “I’m kind of recovered — on the outside, it’s recovered. It’s just inside. I’m basically on the verge of going blind, If I could go back in time, I would have done one black (eye tattoo) and left it. I would have done one black. Absolutely.” Anaya has also swore on herself that she will never get herself down the needle.
Hopefully, this tragic and disheartening incident serves as a warning to the ones who may be planning on going under the needle for the sake of modification and validation from the ‘cooler side’ of society. And also, everyone should take care of their body and health and stay away from these risky procedures as much as possible.
