Delhi Police officials said, with keeping all the hints and proofs in mind, a reward of ₹ 50,000 has been announced for Ajay, who is also in the suspect list and is on the run in the same case. An incident of a fight among wrestlers was reported on May 4 in which some of the wrestlers were injured and they had to be rushed to a hospital and one of them died during treatment.
Stating this as a false statement, wrestler Sushil on May 5 had denied the allegation saying that his wrestlers were nowhere involved in the fight that took place inside Chhatrasal Stadium that day.
A senior police officer said that-
“We are hopeful to get leads about Sushil after announcing the cash reward as he is a public figure and hiding for long at any place will be tough for him.”
Adding to it the police official said that-
“several police teams have been on the look-out for Sushil Kumar in Uttarakhand, U.P., Delhi and Haryana. After being named in the case, he remained at an ashram in Haridwar for a few days and later changed his location. He was last seen in Sonipat in Haryana.”
Sushil is seen as one of the most successful and eminent athletes in the country, as he has won a silver medal in the 2012 London Olympics, and four years earlier i.e., in 2017, he had taken home a bronze medal in Beijing Olympics.
According to the latest update by the Delhi Police Sushil Kumar is continuously changing his location and at several instances, police teams were a few minutes late to catch him. The Police officials have also arrested 3 of Sushil’s associates who are suspected to be aware about Sushil’s location and his hideouts.
Update as of Wednesday, May 19: Delhi Court Rejects Anticipatory Bail
On Tuesday, a Delhi court rejected the anticipatory bail filed by Sushil Kumar and stayed on the decision that the charges against Kumar are serious and worth investigating. Earlier, Sushil Kumar had his lawyers approach the court and argue that the investigation against him was biased.
