Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the banning of mobile phones in all educational institutions across state including colleges and universities. The news has been confirmed after the issue of a circular by the Director of Higher Education authorizing the ban.

In a first, Uttar Pradesh becomes the first state of the country to completely ban the use of Mobile Phones in colleges & universities. The ban is so stringent that not only students but professors and other staff of the educational bodies have been excluded from the purview of using the phone during the college/university hours. The government said that the decision has been taken keeping in view the wellness of establishing good studies environment in colleges and universities.

The ban on the use of the mobile phone in colleges and universities has been confirmed after a circular was issued by the Director of Higher Education of Uttar Pradesh citing good environment in colleges and universities for students to study and professors to teach. The circular said that students and teachers waste their precious time on smartphones instead of investing time in studies.

This is not for the first time that the Yogi government’s cabinet has taken a strong move against the use of smartphones. Earlier also, the cabinet had banned the use of mobile phones in all official meetings. The strong decision was taken when many ministers and officials were seen operating WhatsApp & other social media on their phones while meetings.

After the circular banning the use of Smartphone, students will no longer be allowed or able to take or use mobile phones inside universities and colleges campuses. Not only the students but teachers, professors and other officials across all universities and colleges in the state are barred from using their smartphones to increase the concentration of students.

While many officials and ministers have been praising the decision, many students and other people are agitated with the decision taken by the UP government.
