Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highway, was one of the persons who turned the COVID-19 crisis into an opportunity for himself. The minister was addressing the public during a Haryana event.
“In COVID-19, I Did 2 Things..”
In his speech, Mr. Gadkari said, “In COVID-19 time, I did 2 things – I started cooking at home and giving lectures online through video conference. I went on to give over 950 lectures. This included lectures to foreign universities’ students as well. All these videos were uploaded on YouTube.”
Viewership Increased. YouTube Pays Rs. 4 Lakhs Now
He further added that due to the increased activity, the viewership on his channel increased and now YouTube pays him Rs. 4 lakhs per month as royalty. The minister, with a small chuckle, also added that he never imagined that his content will get as much traction and that it will turn into money.

A sneak-peak into his channel tells that it is subscribed by over 2.07 lakh people across the world. The channel is a mixed bag of content which goes from him cooking to him giving speeches to him giving lectures.

“Ordered Demolition of Father-in-Law’s House”
In his public address, Mr. Gadkari also recalled an interesting incident from his past which involved him ordering a demolition. Speaking to the public, he said how when he was newly married, he found out that his father-in-law’s home was in the middle of the road. “ Without telling my wife, I had ordered the demolition of my father-in-law’s house,” he was quoted saying.
