On Tuesday, YouTube launched “Super thanks” feature to attract and reward more creators. This feature also helps the video creators to earn money from fans. This feature was reportedly launched by Alphabet Inc. to attract more creators to their platform.

Brief About “Super Thanks”

Super Thanks is working in beta at present and with the latest expansion, it is now available to thousands of creators who monetize their content. The feature is available to creators and viewers in around 68 countries on desktop and mobile devices (Android and iOS).

This exclusive feature is a fourth way for aspiring and established YouTubers to make money from their viewers. It comes as a competition for platforms like short-form video app TikTok and Facebook’s Instagram (Reels) are investing heavily to court and attract creators to film viral videos.

“Super Thanks” Pricing and Packages

As per the company, fans can purchase Super Thanks at four price pointers, ranging from $2 (roughly Rs. 150) to $50 (roughly Rs. 3.730). It is a way to express gratitude and support their favourite YouTube channels.

After a purchase on a video page of a creator, a highlighted comment will appear in the comment section, allowing the creator to respond to the fan’s token with a comment or any likewise reaction.

Membership and Revenue Generation

Fans have been able to pay for exclusive and membership content through channel membership schemes. Viewers on a live streamed YouTube video can also pay for Super Chats to pin their comments to the top of the comment section and get a response from their favourite creator.

As an example, YouTube revealed that, while beta testing Super Thanks, psychic intuitive Nicholas Ashbaugh was able to generate a new revenue stream, one that now accounts for nearly 15% of his revenue, by tapping this new way to recognize and engage with his most active fans.

Super Thanks Launched Because of the High-Demand
