The country is in awe of the hilarious ‘Missing Majnu’ sherwani ad from a Kolkata shop which recently went viral on the internet. The sherwani shop named ‘Sultan’ in Kolkata published this interesting ad. Netizens across India found this clever and hilarious ad quite interesting.
Written in a format of a Missing Person Plea, the ad grabs the attention of the hasty readers instantly. The ad copy is so seamlessly written that one has to read through the entire thing to understand the objective.
A redditor posted the photo of the newspaper advertisement on Reddit, and since then it has been doing the rounds on all platforms.
Why is the ‘Missing Majnu’ Ad so Catchy?
The Reddit user behind the viral post captioned it as “This is next level advertisement.”, and the world could not agree more. The ad appeared as a missing person’s plea in the sports section in an English daily, with a photo of a ’24-year-old Majnu’ with MISSING inscribed over it. At a first glance it’ll look like a legit plea. This brilliant ad copy was published by a sherwani store named ‘Sultan’ in Kolkata’s New Market.
The ad read, “Tall, fair & handsome, aged about 24 years- Missing my dear son Majnu, please come home, everyone is very upset. We have accepted both your demands. ‘Laila’ shall be your bride and the wedding sherwani will be purchased from Sultan – The King of Sherwani. However, we shall go to their New Market branch since a car parking facility is available.”
As if the ‘missing groom’ intertwined with Sultan’s Sherwani was not clever enough, the mention of a car parking facility at the new market shop added to the amusement.

Netizens Reacts to the Viral Sherwani Ad?
Netizens were in awe of this brilliant marketing copy and shared it across platforms. One user on reddit commented, “Just imagine parents and families being this considerate. Goli maro log kya kahenge ko.” Another person added, “Wwowww – Creativity level mars,”.
A user was really impressed and wrote, “Woah, I am impressed!”. “It’s all fun and games till the guy is really missing. Like lol if that really happened” another user wrote.
Some commented on the insensitivity of the ad and pointed out, “IMO, this kind of advertising is unethical and sets a bad precedent. A missing person’s advert is a genuine call for help. If we start wrongfully exploiting such ads for whimsical purposes like this, they lose meaning. It might lead to people assuming they are bait and ignoring them.”
