The unfortunate incident happened when she was being toured around the factory where she had applied for a job. She succumbed to her injuries after 20 days.
The Facts of the Matter
Umida Nazarova, a shop assistant, was seven weeks pregnant when she applied for a new job at the Svarnet factory in Borisov, Belarus. The factory produces wires and electrodes. Following her interview, she was shown the factory by some senior staff. During the tour, her long lose hair suddenly got stuck in a machine. Within no time, she was trapped and drenched in blood. She suffered severe head injuries and her scalp was ripped off.

Her mother reports, “If her scalp had not been torn off, she would have been strangled there and then by her own hair.”
It Took Two Lives, Laments the Father
Nazarova’s grieving father, Dmitry says that the negligence took the lives of two people.

Factory Official Sentenced for Negligence
The Belarus Investigative Committee reported that the factory official accompanying Nazarova had paused to make a record at a register.
“When she turned her head, she saw the woman already lying on the floor unconscious,” the committee said.
The victim’s father wondered why the factory officials did not give her something to cover her hair, as she had long hair.
The factory has paid for the young woman’s funeral. The unnamed official has been sentenced by the court for “failure to fulfil her duties due to dishonest and negligent attitude… causing the death of a person.”
