As Russia continues its Ukrainian invasion, the country’s first lady wrote an open letter to media where she told the world that there would be “no place safe” if Russia President Putin is not stopped. She further asked people who are in power to “close the sky”, meaning, to impose a no flying zone on Ukraine.

The First Lady’s appeal and open letter comes at a time when both the sides are reporting casualties, although the truth remains still vastly underreported due to propaganda on both the sides. In her open letter, First Lady Olena Zelenska wrote,” If we don’t stop Putin, who threatens to start a nuclear war, there will be no safe place in the world for any of us”.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he is no longer pressing to get the NATO membership. The Ukrainian President said that he is not going to be a the leader of a ‘country which is begging for something on its knees’.

The Facts of the Matter

Despite facing several sanctions that will cost Russia hundreds of billions of dollars, the country is pressing in its invasion of Ukraine. While Russian troops advance into the country, Ukrainian troops are resisting the attack with several visuals from the ground alleging seizure of tanks, and other military equipment. Amid all this, it’s the Ukrainian citizens that are suffering losses and are being subjected to trauma of war.

To appeal to the world, Ukraine First Lady Olena Zelenska wrote a letter to the media where she claimed that if Putin is not stopped, no place would be safe on the world. Her words come almost a week after the Russian President instructed its nuclear force to remain on high alert, bringing the world on the precipice of an Armageddon with no winners.

Child Casualties the Most Terrifying Side of Invasion

She further added heartbreaking stories of civilians who have been subjected to pain, loss and trauma. “Perhaps the most terrifying and devastating of this invasion are the child casualties. Eight-year-old Alice who died on the streets of Okhtyrka while her grandfather tried to protect her.

“Or Polina from Kyiv, who died in the shelling with her parents. 14-year-old Arseniy was hit in the head by wreckage, and could not be saved because an ambulance could not get to him on time because of intense fires.

“When Russia says that it is ‘not waging war against civilians,’ I call out the names of these murdered children first,” she wrote.

Civilians Forced to Take Bomb Shelters

First Lady Olena also went into tragic details about how the civilians are forced to take a shelter in bomb shelters as Russian army has continued its deliberate bombing against civilian establishments.

“These are just consequences of war for some, for Ukrainians it now a horrific reality. In some cities families cannot get out of the bomb shelters for several days in a row because of the indiscriminate and deliberate bombing and shelling of civilian infrastructure.
