In today’s episode of ‘how the tables turn’, an old video of Bhagwat Mann leaving Navjot Singh Sidhu in splits has gone viral in the wake of the recent Punjab Assembly Elections results. The video is of an era when Navjot Singh Sidhu was a judge at The Great Indian Laughter Challenge while Bhagwat Mann was a stand-up comic trying to win the show. While Mann didn’t win the show, he did end up winning the seat of Chief Minister in Punjab with the Aam Aadmi Party ticket. In the video, Mann can be heard telling a joke about the difference between raajneeti (politics) and gormint (government).

Interestingly, in the aftermath of Aam Aadmi Party’s clean sweep in Punjab, another video of a Bhagwat Mann sketch went viral in which he jokingly said that if he gets enough education, he will become an officer, if not, he will become an MLA. Many netizens expressed their shock and awe at the irony of the video, while some claimed that the video was prophetic in nature.

The Facts of the Matter

The topsy-turvy roads of Indian politics are such that actors are reduced down to meek puppets of a particular party, comedians earn the respect of consensus to be elected a minister, and even a humble tea-seller can dream of being the Prime Minister of the nation. No dreams are too small, and the most fool-proof dreams are squashed.

On Thursday, the Aam Aadmi Party emerged victorious in Punjab with an overwhelming majority. In the aftermath of the victory, several videos of Punjab’s new CM-elect Bhagwat Mann surfaced online. In one video, Mann can be seen performing for Navjot Singh Sidhu and leaving him in splits, while in other, he somehow ends up predicting his future.

Bhagwat Mann Explains Difference Between Raajneeti & Gormint

In one of the above-mentioned videos, Mann can be seen performing at The Great India Laughter Challenge. The video is from the long-gone era of late 2000s when Mann was a comedian and Navjot Singh Sidhu was not a Congress man, but a judge at the reality-show.

In the video Mann can be seen making a joke about the difference between ‘gormint’ (government) and raajneeti (politics). The punchline of the joke was – “Jo har masley par gaur karke us ko ek minute mein bhool jaye, use kehta hain gormint (the one who ponders about every issue for a minute and then moves on, it’s called government).

Netizens Compare Bhagwat Mann to Ukraine President

Interestingly, a Twitter user commented on the video and said that in 2008 Bhagwat Mann was eliminated by Navjot Singh Sidhu. In 2022, Bhagwat Mann had the last laugh. Another netizen made reference to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, who was once a comedian, and added that Mann has a great future in politics.

Another ‘Prophetic Video’ Of Bhagwat Mann

In another video, Bhagwat Mann is featured in a sketch in which he is seen in the character of a student. In the sketch, the comedian-turned-CM expressed his interests in becoming a “mantri” someday. The video was first shared by IPS officer Rupin Sharma who called the sketch “prophetic”.

In the sketch, Mann is asked what he wants to do when he grows up. To this, Mann replies that if he gets enough education, he will become an officer, and if not, he will become an MLA or a “mantri”.
