In a horrifying incident reported from Odisha, a man allegedly beheaded a 8-year-old girl and was reported to have walked around the village with the severed head of the deceased girl. The accused was a 30-year-old man identified as Prashant Bagar, a resident of Kasada. Meanwhile, the motive for his horrific act of macabre still remains to be discovered.

The incident was reported from a village in Jamankira block in Sambalpur district. The man was reportedly seen taking a stroll around the village with the girl’s head in one hand and an axe in his other hand. According to the police involved in the matter, the accused was a man with a bad-temper who had no confirmed animosity towards the deceased girl or her family.

After the man was nabbed, his mobile phone and weapon was seized. On the girl’s father’s complaint, the accused has been charged under multiple provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 302, and more.

The Facts of the Matter

Imagine walking around city or village road one fine morning and witnessing a man carrying around the head of a girl and an axe. The incident’s retelling is enough to send shiver down one’s spine and may sound something that’s out of a horror novel or film. Unfortunately, the horrific incident is not from a movie but from Odisha, and was reported recently.

The usually quite district of Sambalpur, Odisha was rocked by a brutal act of crime when a man was nabbed for brutally beheading a 8-year-old girl and then taking a stroll in the village with the severed head of the victim. The incident was reported earlier on Friday and the accused was identified as 30-year-old PrashantBagar, a resident of Kasada.

Victim Picked when Answering Nature’s Call

According to reports, earlier on Friday, the victim had gone to a far in the village to defecate when Prashant found her there and beheaded with an axe. He then went on to return to the village and was seen casually taking a stroll with the girl’s severed head in his one hand and an axe in his other hand.?

The man was first noticed by a bunch of villagers who were out collecting mahua. Seeing the victim carrying the axe, the villagers rushed to their houses in fear of their lives. Meanwhile, the accused went to a tube-well and washed the girl’s bloodied head.

Accused Dozed Off With Girl’s Head

It was then that the accused’s wife found him and tried to confront him. On being confronted, the accused had a physical scuffle with his wife. The axe carrying enraged accused horrified his wife who ran off. Meanwhile, the accused decided to take a nap near the tube-well and dozed off for a while.

Police Nabs Accused, Claims Accused had Bad Temper but No Mental Illness

Soon, the police rushed to the spot on being alerted and arrested the accused. According to inspector in charge Premjeet Das, the accused carried a bad temper, but didn’t have any animosity with the victim or her family. Das added that the accused is not mentally ill and is yet to confirm the murder. Further, the motive of the macabre crime hasn’t been ascertained as of yet.

Victim’s Father Files Complaint

For preliminary investigation, the victim’s body was sent for a post-mortem and the accused’s weapon and his mobile phone was seized. After the incident, the girl’s father filed a complaint against the accused. Based on the complaint, the accused has been charged under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 302 (Punishment for murder), Section 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence), Section 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
