In a heartwarming incident reported from Tamil Nadu, a 25-year-old elephant was rescued from a swamp. The video of the rescue efforts was shared by IAS Officer Supriya Sahu who took to Twitter to share the video. After the rescue video went viral, netizens hailed the forest officers who helped the elephant and commented saying “salute to team”.

Some netizens also appreciated the team while also questioning as to how the elephant got stuck in the swamp at the first place. The incident was reported from Gudalur, Nilgiris, as per IAS officer Supriya Sahu who applauded the elephant’s “exemplary” fighting power.

In the video gone viral, the elephant can be seen laying on its side, completely exhausted from its efforts of getting out of the swamp. The video was followed by another clip which showed the elephant holding on to a rope thrown by the forest officers and being rescued.

The internet is no dearth of animal rescue videos and such videos have time and time again reaffirmed netizens’ faith in humanity. As animal habitat and human civilization collide due to inevitable situations, often animals are found in a situation where they need help by humans to come out of them. A similar incident was reported from the Nilgiris where a 25-year-old elephant was rescued by forest rangers after it was stuck in a swamp.

The video of the inspiring rescue operation was recently shared by IAS officer Supriya Sahu who took to Twitter to share the visuals. The video has so far been viewed close to sixteen thousand times and is slowly going viral and is picked up by major news publications.

What Does the Video Show

In the video gone viral, the 25-year-old tusked gentle giant can be seen laying exhausted on its side. The elephant tries to summon all its strength and tries to come out of the swamp. But its strength is overpowered by the nature of the swamp and the elephant lays down again.

The video was followed by another clip which showed the Nilgiris based elephant again standing up to its feet and holding on to a rope. While watching the video, one can feel the palpable tension in the air and can also hear the calls being made by the rescue officers.

Elephant had Stranded, Rescue Op Overseen by Supriya Sahu

According to reports, the 25-year-old female elephant was stranded in Nilgiris and got trapped in the swamp. The elephant’s weight worked against its efforts of coming out of swamp. This was when the forest officers took matter in their own hands and tried to help the animal out.

The entire rescue op was over seen by Supriya Sahu, the Additional Chief Secretary of Environment Climate Change and Forests. Taking to Twitter, the IAS officer wrote,” Inspiring team work by #TNforesters in rescuing a 25-year-old elephant stuck in a swamp in Gudalur, #Nilgiris The elephant too did not give up and showed exemplary fighting power to get out of the swamp holding on to the rope thrown by her rescuers. Hats off”.

In a subsequent tweet, she also shared the picture of the good samaritans who were behind the successful rescue op.

It should be noted that a similar rescue operation was caught on cam recently. Earlier in February this year, IFS officer Parveen Kaswan took to Twitter and shared a video of an elephant rescue operation where the forest officers used Archimède’s Principle to pull out a young elephant that had fallen into a ditch.
