In a shocking development, a TMC leader’s son is booked in the case of a brutal gang-rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl that allegedly took place around a birthday party she was invited at. The accused, identified as Brijgopal Goala. is a 21-year-old son of Samar Goala, the member of a gram panchayat with an allegiance to the West Bengal ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).
The incident was brought to the light after the victim passed away earlier on Sunday following which a PIL was filed in the Calcutta HC regarding the matter. The incident was reported from Hanskhali in Nadia, West Bengal. According to reports, the minor-girl died due to excessive bleeding after she was gang-raped earlier at a birthday party organized by the accused.
Following the incident, the police arrested the accused and registered him under multiple sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act. He’s booked under charges pertaining to rape, murder and evidence destruction. The family of the victim has also alleged that they were forced to cremate the minor victim’s body.
The Facts of the Matter
In another hair-raising incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and murder in a case where the prime suspect is the son of a TMC gram panchayat member. The victim, a class IX student was invited to a birthday party that was organized by the accused, Brajagopal Goala. After returning home, she fell severely ill and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Days after admission in hospital, the girl succumbed to her injuries and passed away earlier on Sunday. Meanwhile, a day before her passing, the girl’s father took to the police and filed a complaint against the accused.
Family Alleges Being Forced to Cremate Body of Victim
The family of the victim has alleged that they were forced to cremate their minor daughter’s body in haste by the accused. Further, it has also been alleged by the victim’s father that the accused threatened that if he takes to the police, his house would be set ablaze.
The victim’s father was also threatened to not take his daughter to a hospital or a doctor. Because of the threats, he took his grievously injured daughter to a quack doctor, where she passed away. According to a New Indian Express report, the police are probing the matter with myriad of questions hanging in the air.

Police Probing Various Questions
The police are investigating as to how the girl’s body was cremated without a death certificate that is issued by a medical authority. Further, it is also trying to ascertain as to why the family of the accused asked the victim’s family to take her to a quack doctor.
As the family of the victim were threatened by the accused and his family, it was the members of a child line who took the minor girl’s family into confidence and nudged them to take to the police and file a complaint.
Accused Arrested, Father on Run
For now, the accused, 21-year-old Brajagopal Goala, has been arrested by the police. He’s currently charged with multiple sections of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) and the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act 2020. Meanwhile, the accused’s father Samar Goala and his other family members are on the run.

BJP Invokes 12-Hour Bandh
Meanwhile, on Monday, a PIL was filed regarding the minor’s gang-rape and murder. After it was reported that it was a TMC worker’s son who was involved in the gruesome crime, West Bengal opposition party BJP invoked a 12-hour bandh for the justice of the victim.
