In a horrific incident reported from Ghaziabad, a woman NGO worker was thrashed by a group of women for allegedly objecting to stray dog relocation. The female NGO worker opposing the relocation of stray dog in a locality put her in a harm’s way, after enraged locals, including a group of women, ganged up against her and thrashed her incessantly. The incident was reported from River Heights society of Nandgram police station and visuals of the same are making rounds of social media.

In the video now gone viral, a group of women can be seen ganging up against the female NGO worker in the premises of a residential building. The women can be seen pulling the hair of the NGO worker, beating her and viciously shouting β€œMaaro, Maaro (thrash her)”.

According to reports, due to some cases of dog bites, residents of the River Heights society had decided to catch the stray dog and remove them from the society. However, when a woman, who is part of an animal rights NGO, found out about the plan, she objected to the same, which triggered an argument.

In the immediate aftermath of the clash, Nandgram ACP, Alok Dubey, was quoted saying, β€œThey have filed complaints. We are looking into it. No FIR has been registered till now.”

The Facts of the Matter

In the past year, several incidents of dog bites were reported from all across the nation, with NCR and Delhi being looked as the epicenter of the concerning issue. Recently, a horrific altercation was caught on cam in the backdrop of such cases, with a woman NGO worker being thrashed by a group of women over her objection to stray dog removal from the society.

The incident was reported from at River Heights Society located in Nandgram, Ghaziabad, where the woman NGO worker, identified as Poonam Kashyap, was thrashed by a group of women.

What Does the Video Show?

In the video gone viral, a group of women are seen manhandling the woman NGO worker, who is also the resident of the same society as the group she is being harassed by. The women are seen pushing the woman and pulling her hair. One woman can be heard saying, β€œHumare taraf se isey batao (give it to her from our side)”, while another woman can be heard shouting β€œMaaro, maaro (thrash her)”. The group of women then go on to thrash the woman, slapping her and hitting her on her head.

Society AOA’s Claims

According to Apartment Owners Association (AOA) President Subodh Tyagi alleged that there are 1400 families who live in the society. Due to increasing cases of dog bites, and stray dog menace, families and residents have been suffering. Tyagi also alleged that the woman NGO worker feeds stray dogs inside the society.

As per reports, the society residents had agreed to remove the stray dogs from the society. However, when NGO worker Poonam Kashyap found out about it, she objected to the same and tried to involve the cops. Later, she made some videos of people catching the dogs to remove them.

Meanwhile, Poonam Kashyap, who was thrashed by the local women, was quoted in TOI saying, β€œThen there was a meeting in the evening, and Tyagi alleged before all residents that stray dogs have been coming to the society because I feed them. After that, the women of the society thrashed me”.

Both Kashyap and AOA President Subodh Tyagi have filed police complaints. The cops have said that they are investigating the matter and will lodge an FIR.
