In a shocking incident, a college student in Andhra Pradesh was seen in a video getting beaten up by fellow students with PVC pipes over an alleged dispute about a girl. The accused group of students also allegedly burnt the victim with an iron box over the petty issue. The incident was reported from SRKR Engineering College at Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district.

Videos making rounds of social media shows the young student pleading tearfully in front of his classmates who are carrying pipes and hitting him on his arms, legs, and back. The incident reportedly took place in the hostel room of the college. The condition of the victim is such that due to the assault his shirt is torn off.

The victim in the matter has been identified as Ankit. As per a New Indian Express report, four engineering students from the SRKR Engineering College picked up an argument with another student about a girl. The accused group attacked Ankit indiscriminately, using PVC pipes in their attack, and even went as far as burning him with an iron box.

Ankit was later rushed to the nearby government hospital where his condition is reported to be stable. Meanwhile, the accused group has been arrested and a case will be registered against them.

The Facts of the Matter

Despite stringent laws in place that punish ragging and violent actions in college inflicted by seniors or classmates, several students in India continue to face violence over petty matters. In one such incident reported recently, a student from an engineering college was brutally assaulted by his fellow students, who hit him with PVC pipes and went as far as burning him with an iron box.

The shocking incident was reported from the hostel of SRKR Engineering College at Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district. The victim in the incident was identified as Ankit. On social media, video of Ankit being indiscriminately beaten by a group of college students is going viral.

What Does the Video Show?

In the video making rounds of social media, Ankit can be seen pleading to the group of college student in front of him to not beat him up, and apologizing in the local language. The students don’t care much about the student’s pleading, and hit him with pipes and sticks. It is not clear whether a person in the group recorded the incident or the incident was captured on video by a third party, who then shared it to social media.

Dispute was About a Girl

As per reports, the incident occurred earlier on Thursday, with video of it surfacing two days later. On Thursday, four students of the SRKR college ambushed Ankit and started beating him indiscriminately over a dispute about a girl. While it is not shown in the video, the group also branded Ankit with a hot iron box.

Accused Arrested, Probe On

Ankit was later rushed to the nearby government hospital where his condition is reported to be stable. Ankit is a computer science student at the SRKR Engineering College, and lives at a private hostel.

After video of the shocking assault went viral, the cops arrested four engineering students who were involved in the mischief. “Case has been registered and investigation is on. The injured student will be discharged from the hospital on Saturday,” a New Indian Express report quoted cops saying.
