In Bengaluru, a 73-year-old man was reportedly beaten to death by the family of a minor girl he had tried to allegedly rape. The incident occurred earlier on Sunday and the deceased was identified as 73-year-old Kuppanna. A native of Tamil Nadu’s Babusapalya, Kuppanna had been staying in Bengaluru, and lived at a residence near the 17-year-old minor girl’s residence.
As per the reports, the deceased man had spoken to the 17-year-old girl, who had come outside her house to fetch some dry clothes. Allegedly, he lured her to consumed some food laced with sedative, and when she was in a semi-conscious state, took her in his home.
Meanwhile, when the 17-year-old girl didn’t come back inside the home, her family started panicking and started looking for her. When they went to Kuppanna’s house, they found her in a naked state in the house of the deceased.
Instead of taking the allegedly accused to the cops, the family launched an assault on him and beat him mercilessly. They later took to the police and narrated the entire incident. Kuppanna was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
Meanwhile, two cases have been filed in the matter. For Kuppanna’s murder, three people have been arrested, while a POCSO case has also been registered.
The Facts of the Matter
The increase of crimes against children in India, especially sexual crimes, has raised brows and concern among activists and policymakers alike. In 2021, as many as 53,874 cases were registered in 2021 under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act as per the data released by the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau).
In Karnataka’s capital, another horrific incident of sexual crime against a minor was reported, where an alleged accused was beaten to death by the minor girl’s family.
Deceased and Minor Girl were Neighbours
As per the initial investigation, the 17-year-old minor girl and the alleged deceased accused Kuppanna, lived as neighbours. Kuppanna hails from Tamil Nadu’s Babusapalya and had been living in Bengaluru for a while.
On the day of incident, the minor girl had come out of her home to fetch some dry clothes. This was when Kuppanna allegedly struck a conversation with her and made her consume some sedative laced food.

Deceased Sedated Minor, Took her in his Home
When the minor girl was in a semi-conscious state, Kuppanna allegedly took her in his room. Meanwhile, when the minor girl didn’t return with the clothes after a long time, her family started panicking and started searching for the girl.

Family Assault Neighbour, Beat him to Death
The family took to Kuppanna’s home to find out about the minor’s whereabouts when they found her in a semi-naked state. Instead of giving the alleged accused to the cops, the family launched an assault on him and started to thrash him.
After assaulting the 73-year-old the family took to the police, and Kuppanna was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
The police have registered two cases in the matter. In connection to Kuppanna’s murder, the cops have arrested three people, while a POCSO case has been registered and the matter is under further investigation.
