In a shocking development, a brave surgeon removed a live grenade from a soldier’s torso that could’ve exploded any moment. The daring surgeon completed the sweat-breaking surgery in the presence of two other soldiers. The surgeon in question, identified as Andriy Verba, was pictured holding the live explosive device, which as per Ukrainian forces, could’ve exploded “at any time”.
The incident comes straight from Ukraine, where Russian President Putin’s forces are marching ahead with the orders of an invasion. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian armed forces, aided with mercenaries across the world, are defending their motherland against the invasion. One such soldier was recently injured, and was rushed to the hospital to have a surgery done on his chest and have a live grenade removed from his chest.
The soldier in question was on the frontlines when he survived a close shave after having a live grenade pierced through his chest. The grenade, called VOG grenade, is an explosive device fired from a grenade launcher.
Sharing the picture of the hair-raising surgery on Facebook, the Ukrainian forces shared their gratitude for surgeon Major-General Andriy Verba. As the grenade could’ve exploded at any time, the surgeon performed the routine without electrocoagulation, a process where electric current is used to destroy tissue and control bleeding.
The Facts of the Matter
It’s going to be one year since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched an all-out invasion of Ukraine which he labelled as ‘special military operation’. Putin, who was vocal of a sure-shot and quick victory, has been the subject of mockery after his forces were subject to a hard-fought Ukrainian resistance.
In the last one-year, countless sanctions have been imposed by the West on Russia while Ukraine continues to receive relief and assistance from the rest of the world. Meanwhile, the war wages on and both the sides are registering deaths with no sign of a resolution in sight.

Soldier Gets hit by Live Grenade
Recently, a Ukrainian soldier survived a horrific ordeal, and was saved thanks to the fearlessness of a surgeon. The soldier was on the front line when a live grenade pierced through his chest, requiring him to be rushed for a surgery where a surgeon could somehow remove the live grenade.
The soldier was operated on by a team of talented surgeons, led by Major-General Andriy Verba. The Ukrainian forces shared pictures of Verba holding the live grenade which could’ve exploded any moment. The soldier was reportedly hit with a VOG grenade, an explosive which is often fired from a high-tech grenade launcher.

Experienced Surgeon Removes Grenade
The VOG grenade hit the soldier, and instead of exploding, got lodged in the soldier’s torso. Dr Andriy Verba was called to save the soldier’s life while making sure that he himself doesn’t become a victim of collateral damage.
The experienced surgeon successfully removed the live grenade without electrocoagulation. Electrocoagulation is a way that uses electricity to destroy tissue and control bleeding. However, as the electric charge could’ve triggered the grenade, the experienced surgeon decided to perform the surgery without it.

Dr Verba’s extraordinary feat was celebrated by the Ukrainian forces. Regional governor also took to Facebook and shared an update regarding the matter. “Our military doctors performed an operation to remove an unexploded VOG grenade from the body of a serviceman” the Facebook post read.
The operational intervention was successful and the injured soldier was sent to further rehabilitation and recovery.” Borzov’s post read.
